Do you use a reel mower for 3/4 inch?

How much $$??
I was quoted $180/per pallet shipped, but apparently that was "landscaper" pricing.
I ended up around $200/pallet.

Im wondering the same thing. My entire yard (front and back) is probably on 5,000 sq ft. I use an electric mower currently and it works fine, but would be interested if it actually made a difference.

Have to get a reel mower. So think about that cost before buying. Mowers direct has a California reel, get that one with the Honda engine and the front roller.
I’m also in Thibodaux but if you come on my lawn I’ll yell at you to get off.

Can I just pay you to use yours? Hah

Update - sod was supposed to be delivered this week, but now that's not likely.
What should I do to keep weeds/unwanted grass from intruding on my now perfectly prepped patch of dirt for the next few weeks?

where were you getting it from? is corona stopping the delivery? i need about 4 pallets sent to my house this week

Glyphosate. Bonds tightly to the soil so it won’t interfere in a few weeks

Woerner in Donaldsonville... apparently the virus isn't the hold up, they're just waiting on a full truckload.

I don’t think it comes out of Dville. Probably get trucked there them distributed with other orders. Unless it’s different from last year when I did mine. Still have red dirt stains on my driveway

Update:
Its been almost 2 weeks since laying down the sod, so I wanted to provide some pics of the project that started last October:
Here is how the yard looked when we purchased the house
Removal of the old fence and dog pen (w/slab)
Here is the yard prepped for new sod, including adding drainage, replacing all the sprinkler heads, adding dirt and leveling
In process and right after it was all laid down
and finally, current state after 2 weeks of watering

Looks nice, but it also looks like the grass is higher than the concrete so when it rains...won't that trap water on your concrete instead of letting it flow into your yard?
Posted on 4/15/20 at 3:20 pm to Crusty
It's slowly settling down as the organic matter underneath compacts, I dug down about an inch below the concrete so I expect it to be level at some point.
Also I've added drainage in the low spots of the driveway to drain out the back.
It's only rained a couple times since I've completed, but its draining very well so far.

Cool. It looks really nice.
And "snappa" is a fun word to say.

Art, I don't have a big enough yard to invest in a motor driven reel mower. Are the cheaper ($100-$200) push real mowers worth it compared to a standard push mower?

Right and wrong. I have palisade zoysia. I keep it cut at 3/4” and it’s very nice on the feet. But it grows very vertical and when it needs cut or gets longer it can poke. I find where it gets shade it doesn’t grow very well. It makes it but it’s thin and doesn’t look as good as st Augustine
Art, so palisades doesn’t do well in shade? How many hours of sun do you get in that area? I have empire that I’m cutting at 1/2” with a Swardman and it’s thin in some shaded areas. I did just have some trees trimmed so hoping it will thicken up when it gets a little more hot.

Thinning trees is good. Your now height is good. With zoysia or Bermuda.....shorter the blade the thicker the roots. Are you in your second year of your zoysia lawn? In my experience all zoysia’s suffer a sophomore slump.

In my Experience Zoysia is way too thick for a manual reel mower, as in impossible to use. Thatch is also a major issue with zoysia you are going to want to bag it routinely most likely. When I had zoysia I literally couldn’t push my mower through it.

What type of Zoysia did you have? Was in Palisades?
