Building a screened porch (24’ wide along house, 14’ deep, mounting TV in the center on the house). Grilling area to the side of this on pavers. I currently have four outdoor speakers over ten years old but still working (a pair of Bose 251 and a pair of Polk Patio 25–sams club special). Not an audiophile, just want good sound for football games and for music while hanging out. Don’t need surround sound. Current amp is an old Sherwood with A/B or A+B options for sound.

Should I scrap everything and get a new Sonos amp with speakers? Keep the Bose speakers? New amp? New speakers?

Current idea is to mount Bose speakers inside porch, and have the two Polk speakers facing the yard/grill area. Wireless setup would be ideal, but not sure about sound quality, cost, etc. Any advice?

Bump.
Looking for sound around our pool. Thinking of going with Bose 251 with a sonos amp. Have the amp already

I’ve got some sonance outdoors hooked up to a Sonos amp and they’re fine. Whatever fits your budget and outdoor rated.

Ya I don't have a lot to offer here but my house already had two outdoor speakers on the deck by the pool. Got a Sonos amp for it and the in house speakers and it's more than enough for me.

I’ve got the Sherwood amp you do. I’ve got 4 dual brand indoor/outdoor speakers placed across the back patio with a Yamaha sub hooked into the Sherwood. It will blow doors off. Everyone of my friends that have spent thousands asks me about my setup cause it sounds so much better than theirs. The dual speakers can be bought on Amazon for cheap and would serve your purpose more than enough, especially adding in a powered sub

Has anyone played around with these? Monoprice and Parts-Express sell them. Likely the same model rebranded. Buried Subwoofer

You might want to cross post this on the Tech Board.

ETA: Nevermind, I see you already have.

Sonos is the answer. Get a Sonos amp and connect to the existing speakers if possible- Bose equipment usually doesn't play nice with others.

Just completed a new pool build and went with the following setup. Sonance 4.1 MAG setup from BestBuy for $1500 for around the pool.. Have 2 Episodes 8" outdoor speakers mounted in a cabana/outdoor kitchen. I also had the AV company run a hardline Ethernet connection so that I could hard wire the TV instead of connecting it wireless. Also added an additional wireless access point to insure we seamless wifi connection out back. I have 2 zones: cabana & pool so that I can listen to different audio in each zone and control volume level of each independently.. it is run through 2 Sonos amps. all in it was $4500 - equipment and installation.

I couldn't be more happier with the setup.

I’m sorry I just now saw this from the other day. It’s the LU43PW. Got them on amazon. Those speakers themselves aren’t gonna blow it out but combined with the Yamaha sub it’s absolutely more than almost anyone would ever need

If you like the sound and location of your current speakers you could get the Sonos Connect amp(s) and wire to those speakers.
I personally have 4 Bose 251 wired speakers on a Sonos connect amp for outside. (Inside another Sonos connect amp for ceiling mount speakers and the Sonos soundbar/sub in the living room )
Point is that there are essentially 3 listening zones.
You will live the feature of being outside and using your smartphone or device to select the music, volume, etc. And also with the soundbar to TV option I can select the TV sound to the patio or whole house for the gameday experience.
The Sonos products and app is very nice. I have not been disappointed.

I had searched the board for recomendations on outdoor speakers and found this thread. Have been looking in the $100 range and found these at Sam’s Club on sale. Same speakers were $139 on Amazon as of yesterday. Seems like a good deal if anyone else is looking like me.

I'd venture to guess those are probably going to be the best value if you want to keep it in that price range. I replaced a pair of older 5.25" Insignia (Best Buy) speakers with a pair of 8" Dayton Audio speakers. The difference was drastic. It depends on the space you are trying to fill, but in my opinion, the bigger the speakers the better for big spaces.

The Daytons were considerably more, but I also scored two open box speakers.

ETA:
Just checked out of curiosity.. if it were me I'd snatch a pair of these up while they last. (Open Box)
Dayton Audio 8" Speakers

Haha thanks those are a bit big for my little patio and locations of the neighbors mean we don’t need more sound than the Sam’s special gives us. Pretty solid deal though. I think I have the AV bug and may be upgrading the living room to some atmos speakers now smh…
