Anyone ever put in an outdoor shower? I’m thinking about putting one in so ppl can rinse off real quick after getting out of our pool. Maybe also so the kids can stand under it and pee instead of having to dry off and go inside (if they’re swimming and need to pee).

My main question is the drain. Can I just tap into my subsurface drainage system and let the water run out the street?

why not just grade the shower floor and run the water over to the grass? You dont want to send pee directly into storm water runoff. The grass and plants would help clean up the water before it hit the storm water system.

How much pee do you think is going to the storm drain?

You can find thousands of pics online of all kinds of setups. We put one in and use it pretty frequently. Ours is tied to the sewage line b/c it was convenient. Most difficult part was getting hot water to it. I wouldn't do it w/o hot water. It is nice to let the kids wash their hair b/4 coming in.

are you going to ask your pool guests to pee in the stand up shower?

I made a super redneck cheap one. I put a splitter on a hose spigot. Ran some pvc to a plastic shower head. I just let it run off into the grass. You could have it run into your drain if you wanted.

Its really great to hose down after a lot of yard work.

We had an outdoor shower last year on vacation. I went a week without showering inside. It was glorious.

Had one installed on the back of my storage shed. Bought a shower head and control for $80 at Home Depot and put down cement pad slab. Works perfectly after working in the yard or washing the dogs.

Any issues with shampoo/soap going to the grass? Or is this just a quick rinse shower?

It doesnt matter how much it is. it isn't sanitary and has negative impacts for a myriad of reasons. Save the unneeded expense.

So how do you keep rain water out of your sanitary sewer?

Shouldn't be. Shampoo/soaps in small amounts can be beneficial to the soil and grasses.

serious question, what’s wrong with just peeing in the pool?

Home Depot Shower fixture, hot and cold, with removable handheld sprayer, easy dog washing. Drains to street through pool deck drains. 12 years old, no issues

We don't. We put a basin with a curb. The basin is about 12 sqft so not much rain water. A 2 inch rain would be about 15 gals.

Everyone does it; few admit to doing it.
