What's your go to in terms of comfort, looks, and durability? I've been looking at homecrest, but some of the sets can go for >$10k. But I know homecrest will essentially be a buy it for life type deal.

The Homecrest frames might be a lifetime investment but you'll replace cushions every couple years for life.
The cushions aren't cheap.

What are the alternatives to homecrest then? Or is it still a good investment?

What type of furniture?
I got my chaise loungers from Teak + Table and my sectional from Frontgate. both the chaises and the sectional have kept up extremely well.

I've heard mixed things on Ashley, though...

What are the best polywood brands?

Would like recliners and also a nice patio table and chairs. Or chairs with a firepit in the middle.

Customer service is not in their DNA. If you want Ashley furniture purchase it from a local dealer not their actually store front.

I have a few pieces from Pollywood, and it's great.

We just ordered a boatload a few months ago from west elm. Should be here in a few weeks. I will let you know how it looks

I’m (actually my wife) looking at crate and barrel, Restoration Hardware, and pottery barn stuff now. Does the increase in price reflect an increase in value/longevity over something decent from Costco with sunbrella cushions? I can live with 4-5k worth of outdoor furniture if it’s going to last ten years, but if it is going to be Lowe’s/Home Depot quality, will go with something cheaper. Can’t justify spending over 5k on outdoor furniture. How is Pollywood vs the aforementioned companies?

Polywood is not only a company, but a material. Each of the companies you mentioned (not sure about RH) and many others market outdoor furniture made of Polywood.
Once I decided that was the material I wanted to buy, it was just a matter of looking at style, price, delivery timeline, and warranty. I ended up buying polywood-branded adirondack chairs from Amazon.

I'm worried about those brands since you're paying top dollar and it doesn't seem like you're getting BIFL

Damn!
Custom made teak with African Mahogany inlays for that price?

CostCo for the win. Just bought 4 swiveling/rocking chairs with side tables. Wicker with Sunbrella cushions. Still have a pair of recliners and sofa sections which are about 5 years old, but threw away one section which had deteriorated to the point of embarrassment. For the price and durability, this has worked for us.

We bought several pieces of Seaside Casual Furniture. Some is over 12 years old, sits in the sun year round, and still looks good. Seaside Casual
The Adirondack style chairs, especially the taller bar chairs, are so damned comfortable that we never use the couple of cushions we bought in the beginning.
In Shreveport, Corner Collection on Line carries a warehouse full of nice patio furniture. It's expensive, but it's good stuff.
