The 4x12 beams are in.
About 1/3 of the ceiling is done.
And I've done some test oiling of the heart pine and I think it's gonna look good!

Yeah. I realize that. I just didn't want to do that.
One thing I'm doing as an homage to that old kitchen is that I'm gonna paint the cabinets the same aqua blue as the old oven. And instead of faux wood paneling, I'm using actual rough cypress. Instead of white asbestos tiles, I'm going back with whitwashed pine.
So I'm keeping several elements and improving on them. In my opinion

Heck, no. I did the design. And I purchased and hauled all of the materials and appliances. But I found a husband and wife team that lived in the house and did everything in 6 weeks. They weren't fast, but they did a good job.
They were $65 an hour total for the two of them. And I basically paid for food and beer on top of that. They worked 5 of the 7 weekends straight through. They even rewired the entire kitchen including a new panel. And installed a tankless water heater. It ended up being a lot of electrical work.

Yeah that was on the original plan but I ran out of time. Definitely will incorporate on Round 2...
