My nephew followed him in videoing from behind. He was stunned. I mean, he couldn't speak. He was very, very appreciative.

The only negative is that he said: "This kitchen changes the way I view the rest of the house. It makes the whole rest of the house look like shite."

And part of me wanted him to see that. He hates change. He's a "fix it" guy, not a "renovate it" guy.

His brain just sees things different. He can spot a speck of dirt on a tile floor. But not notice that the tile is worn out, faded, cracked, and peeling up from when it was installed in 1964.

But, in all, he was very pleased. And it's a room the whole family can enjoy.

Looks great. Wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I would have suggested to install power outlets in that island if you could.

We renovated our kitchen this spring, and the power outlets we put in the island probably get the most use in the kitchen.
