So exciting!!!!

I think your dad is going to love it. I would make changes that make things easier.

Big sink, pot filler, big pantry (with shelving and outlets) cabinets that accommodate things that match with the closest appliance.

We have done this a few times and I actually love this stage (when everything is Demo’d)- you are past the “should we do it?” Phase and now you are committed (cause something has to go back in!).

I love the wall with all the different colored wood planks. Is that something you could leave open (a portion of it)as a feature wall/part of the backsplash? It’s gorgeous.

I like the ironing board/spice rack idea-but think that area would open up nicely and would then allow room for a huge island or table. - that seems to be a fun idea for a family camp.

There is so much cabinetry there- you will need to choose hardware wisely as it will be prevalent.

Good luck and can’t wait to see final pics!

I agree. I think that wall looks great. It would be nice if you were able to incorporate it into the final design.

Heart Pine Floors are in.

Entire kitchen is rewired.

Walls and ceilings next. Then cabinets next week. I can't see the end. But I can see that all the tedious stuff is done. It's gonna start going a lot faster now.

I'm digging the floors. What will you put on them? I had a 1904 farmhouse that the large front foyer had pine floors that were sanded and then sealed with polyurethane. After having a big party, I noticed all kinds of dent dents from the dancing lady's high heels the next morning.

Made me sick to my stomach

I got them from the discard pile at my sawmill. They're all basically #4 rejects for one reason or the other. It took me a lot of sorting through to find the cool ones I was looking for.

They are square shoulder, non tongue and groove, glue down. With some nails in them to help them grab the glue. I will just sand them and them a couple of coats of Tung Oil. That's all. No poly.

Dude. Those are character marks. Cherish those. Pine floors show wear. This ain't a museum. Dancing high heel marks just means it was a lively kitchen.

Look into coating the floors with Waterlox. It is a tung oil based wood finish that does not require a poly topcoat. Here is an internet picture of the heart pine finished with Waterlox

Don’t do this please it takes a while to dry and it’s tacky for a long time.

The Uno coat natural color is perfect for this application after you sand it get a slow speed buffer 175 rpm with a white pad and you simply buff this in and you are done. Full use in a day.

Thanks for your advice. Your link doesn't work? I'll look into the Uno coat.

Your oven is a different colored replica of what I have at my house in Auburn. I recognize the knobs and configuration, and is more narrow than what is popular today. Would you sell it? I'm not interested in major reno right now for a house I use less than 30 days a year. Good luck with the project.

I said tung oil based, not 100% tung oil

Yeah. I would sell the oven, and the cook top, and the vent hood for $1000. They were all working fine....for the last 58 years.

I've seen them on eBay for between $800 and $2400. This one works but it's not in perfect condition and it wasn't the higher end model with the rotisserie and all that. So I'm gonna ask like $1000 for it and the cook top and the vent hood.
Apologies, I just read this post. I just need the oven, although my vent hood motor is out as well. Is there a way I can get in touch?

Looking real nice, Clark! Floors look great.

We did “rustic” heart pine and I got someone in to come in and do 3 coats of Satin Bona. I like Waterlox, but the cure time was too much for my schedule (my wife was getting close to her due date), plus I wanted something lighter in tone. I’m glad I went with the Bona.

ETA: your dad is going to be super proud and grateful.

You do realize people renovate their kitchen to look like your original kitchen? The original is pretty sweet.
