Can anyone recommend what I could put in this big pot and the area around it? It gets full sun and is close to my pool.

Ive had some smaller palms that I couldnt keep alive during the freeze. Im terrible at this stuff.

ETA im in Baton Rouge

Pink muhly grass wouldn’t be bad or some other ornamental grass.

Plant some Lemongrass. Smells great and helps with Mosquitos

I like planting stuff that comes back every year.
You could try Elephant ears or hydrangea in the pot. Lantana in the ground

Thought the same. The pink muhly adds some beautiful color though. We’re in the process of replacing some generic/brown ornamental grass next to the house with pink muhly.

Would this be for inside that pot or the ground below it?

you won’t have to wait long LOL just till the first freeze. If it was me I’d put a bird of paradise in that pot and lantana around the bed. The lantana will come back every year and you can cover the BOP

i started to realize that after i bought one today. Oh well.

The last freeze killed all the ferns and hibiscus outside my kitchen window. I had space heaters and blankets all over them. All in vain, though.

dude I’ve killed dozens of hibiscus...I’m the gotdam grim reaper of hibiscus. It’s gotten to be a game now. I get a new one every year and no matter where I plant it or how I try to over winter it dies

the hibiscuses run for cover when I walk down the aisle at Lowe’s
