My A/C is making my house stink when it flips on.

For whatever reason, the past week or so when I have had to turn the air conditioner on it makes my house smell like a wet dog. I have a dog and she sheds a lot as she is a golden retriever so I assume that may have something to do with it.
Have any of y’all had this issue; and if so, what was your remedy?
Eta: for your trouble here’s a pic of the dog needing some pets while I’m trying to veg out

Comedy aside, can you open the blower door on your unit? If it's dirty the coil is probably too and in that case would probably need a tech to perform the cleaning. If you can access the coil, you might spray a bleach/water mixture on it, not too stong on the bleach.

Get an airscrubber installed. If you're DIY, then even better. Bulb lasts for about 3 years or so. It legit makes a difference. My bulb burned out and I need to replace it, but it takes out all the smell in the house.

Dirty sock syndrome.
Usually just dirty coils or mildew on coils.
I get it for a few days when the temps are transitioning and I'm flipping between heat and a/c use(I have heat pump). Mines never stayed persistent enough to warrant doing anything more aggressive about it.

I'm not expert but open where your coil is and see if slime is in there and it's filling with water. Might was well clean the coil while you're in there. This is like the easiest DIY thing ever btw.

Give your dog a bath so it smells like a clean dog?

I had this same issue a few years back. The remedy is simple but you probably shouldn't do it unless you are home alone. Go in the addict and remove the ducts one at a time to each vent. Whistle and say come here. When the wet dog comes out you can bring it down and get rid of it however you like. If the wife is there it's whines will make her want to keep it.
This is actually more common than you would think.

Man I hate when I have an addict living in my attic. Gotta get those meth heads out. I hear mothballs work.
