I'm assuming so. I dont remember the exact variety but from what ive read the nursery that supplies home depot down here only has self fertile varieties. If I cant get any fruit to set I'll probably cut it down and get one thats verified.

There are surprisingly some very legit local dragonfruit growers. If you decide to hunt for a new variety let me know and I can hook you up with the right people who would very likely just give you cuttings.

I’ve seen where people just stick a different cultivar cutting into the same pot as the existing one and let it grow up the same vertical. That way you have the two different flowers close together

I have 3 different cultivars in the same pot currently. This is the only one big enough to be blooming.

Got the real veinte cohol banana throwing pups. Very exciting to now be able to propagate and share this one. This is the dwarf and extremely short cycle banana that ripens in 30-40 days.
Before anyone says "hey Tigerlaff, what's with all that bark in your soil you hypocrite!?"... It's OK for bananas. They grow, fruit, and die and the pups are removed to new pots. You don't need something long lasting. In fact a banana will grow better in a bunch of compost than in good soil. Don't waste your good soil on bananas. This one is going in the ground or a huge yard pot come spring.

So yesterday I went to Lowes to grab a few things are they were rolling out a small cart with about 10 of these things on it. I liked the way they looked and just grabbed one and bought it. Impulse buy
I read a little about it once I got home. I would like to leave it in a pot until next spring inside my pool cage and then maybe plant it outside my fence.
Pot looks very small to me but I dont know about these things. It looks like maybe a 1 gallon or 2 at the most.
Do I need to go ahead and replant it? Gary soil with the top coating and everything? Looks like it needs lots of water in fast draining soil so that sounds like Gary soil to me. Plus I have plenty of potted stuff here that I water every few days right now since I live in hell. It all dries out.
Nono Pink Variegated Banana. I know its not going to produce fruit. I just liked the way it looked. Tag says full sun to partial shade but Id think those leaves would burn up in the August/September south Florida sun. I have it on the edge of my lanai right now. Morning sun for the morning then shade mid day to night.

Here’s the better looking of my two Pink Nono plants. These were from the original drop back in December. Planted in the ground the next day.
One gets brutal full sun and this one gets some partial shade. Both got absolutely ravaged by the February freeze; but, have bounced back nicely.
This one has pushed off two suckers already and is about 4 feet tall now. The other one in full sun is about half this size; however, it has a much more striking red/pink coloration to it. Along with some fried leaves too. So I’m hypothesizing that more light exposure equals more intense coloration. In terms of maintenance all I’ve done is throw 10-10-10 at them every 2-3 months.
Definitely doesn’t seem to grow with as much vigor as my other edible banana varieties.

The Jalisco Roja guavas just keep coming in better and better. So far there hasn't been a single miss. The big one below was equal in quality to the very best ruby supremes I have ever harvested. That's crazy for this early in the season. My only insignificant gripe is that it's not as pretty as ruby supreme with the deep red flesh.

Thanks man. I think I am going to put mine in a bigger pot. All I have right now is Gary mix so I may just use that. I dont have anything else. Maybe a bag of potting soil somewhere. I may wait to put it in the ground after the winter.

We will see if I can keep from killing it. I have a big alocasia that needs to be potted bad. I got it a few months back and I have been very surprised how fast it puts off those big leaves. Its keeping about 5 of them. Every time one comes out, a outside one dies off. It also is in a small pot from the nursery. Hell, I had to put that pot in a bigger ceramic pot to keep it from tipping over.

Yep bananas do really well in pots. I use a mix of home depot top soil, sand, and perlite. Cheap and drains.

I am sure I dont need to put that thing in a monster pot but Id think I can put it in a bigger one. Its in a tiny one.
And I have no idea why they put that big alocasia in such a small pot. The damn thing will barely stand up. I had to drop it with its plastic original pot inside a ceramic one to keep it from tipping over. Im thinking about potting it in a wide bottom ceramic.

They use the tiny pots because it saves them space and money. When you take it out of the pot I bet you'll find a rootball stuffed with slow release granular fertilizer.

Today, I moved it around and there were roots in the back of the pot that I could not see that were coming out the drain holes, growing down in between my pavers into the sand between them. When I moved the pot, it broke those roots in half.
I was very worried about that big elephant ear. I have always wanted one and my friend had me scared to death of it. Apparently he has not had good luck with them. So far, it has been doing well for me. It has grown a few new leaves pretty fast and only had on need to be removed. I am having to water it almost everyday and I think thats due to the small pot. Its very green and looks nice and healthy.
My smaller one is doing extremely well. I repotted it a few months ago in the Gary mix and moved it from a 3 to a 10 gallon and it is thriving. I have been pruning new leaves off it every week so the bigger leaves will get even bigger. Im spraying it with Captain Jacks about twice a month for the spider mites. Ive not seen any one it but I hear they love the alocasias.
Very happy with the way those two plants have done for me considering my experience with all of this

Namwah bananas coming along. Really noticed an uptick in growth this week. They definitely enlarge in spurts.This is week 9.

I just helped DickTater with this. Had really bad structure on his Pickering and the man had the stones to hat rack it and start over with new scaffolding. It's what I would have done too but I would have got drunk first.
Gonna need to see more photos of the branch structure, etc. Need photos from all angles and top down. Just really hard to see exactly what is going on there. Also need to know the exact distance from the ground (not the soil in the pot, the actual ground) to the first branching point on the trunk.
If you are going to cut, yes, it needs to be done very soon. Like within the next 5 days soon if you want to give it the best chance of holding fruit next summer.
