Zone9Tropical on Etsy has some very premium guava cultivars back in stock. All air layered rare varieties. They don't last long as she only does a few each year. Can vouch for her, she is legit and very easy to work with. Got my jalisco roja from her.

Just a reminder that the Mango Festival in West Palm is on the 27th. They have tastings, scion exchanges, etc.

Mango Fest Website

I had hoped to go this year, but I have an event at work that is going to prevent it unless I fly out Friday and come back Sunday. I lived in the area for a few years, so I really want to spend a few days there if I go. I am putting it on my list for next year though.

I did order a Carrie and a Maha tree to make up for me not making it this year. It sounded like a reasonable consulation idea.

Wish I could go to the Fest. Kids too young and too much work to take a vacation that weekend. One day I'm definitely doing it.

Y'all be sure to get ready for the weather tonight. Probably a ton of rain and high winds, so get your things staked if needed.

I’ll be there and will give ya’ll a report when I get back.

In the meantime; found some mangoes today. At $8.50lb I do believe I’m going to start cutting back or being more selective.

Got Harvest Moon, Florigon, Glenn, CAC and STEP. STEP is a new one for me. They had also just brought in some Sweetheart Lychees so I had to grab some of those too.

Never had Step but I remember Alex talking about it on a Fruitful Trees video. Never had harvest moon either. Not a fan of Florigon.

Love a good Glenn and CAC is elite!

On the lychees, I now have some pretty well-established opinions about the Florida varieties:

Sweetheart: the best, hands down. The sweetest and best flavor along with by far the best seed to flesh ratio due to the aborted chicken tongue seeds. You honestly barely notice the seed. Also the most expensive.

Hak Ip: almost identical to Sweetheart but the seed seems to be just slightly larger. I can't tell a flavor difference.

Brewster: very good flavor, but not approaching Sweetheart or Hak Ip. Huge seed, little flesh. The flesh is also somewhat clingstone and a lot sticks to the seed.

Mauritius: worst in terms of flavor, but the flavor is still very good. If you've never had a lychee you're going to give Mauritius an 8.5-9 out of 10 on taste. Medium sized seed with acceptable seed to flesh ratio. Significantly cheaper than all other varieties.

My recommendation for those curious would be to buy small orders of Sweetheart and Mauritius at the same time. If you eat the Mauritius and decide you can live without Sweetheart, that's the ticket. Have some in the fridge now but I'll never buy Brewster again. Still have not had Emperor which ironically is the only one I'm growing. Would also like to try the tropical varieties like Kaimana one day.

I put the beautyberry next to my patio. It'll get about 6 hours of sun in the summer.

I spend about 3 hours clearing the bermuda out of this bed a few weeks ago. The shite is still coming up through 2 layers of weed barrier and 2 inches of mulch.

Crazy find at Home Depot today. I have a bunch of desert roses already but loved this thing. I found one like this a few months back at another store, but it was damaged pretty bad on the main Stock. I was just going to buy that one and cut it off, but I held off and did not buy it. Today I found this one and it is absolutely perfect and very healthy looking. Never seen one that tall. I don't even know at this point what the hell I'm gonna do with it, but it looks way different than my other ones are.

Its in a 5 gal pot and 54" tall.
