Anybody else notice a huge increase in these little shits? I’m here in Houston/Katy. I walk out my back door and they are there. Not your regular green little lizards? And not geckos which we have always had. Tiny little brown spotted lizards.
Just curious? I’m not going on a lizard killing rampage. Unless one runs up my back from some patio furniture. That one will meet a violent end.

I've never understood wanting to kill them. I don't mind em. They are there because there is a food source of some type. Kill the lizards and whatever they are eating is gonna multiply.

I have been telling my wife all year long. I've seen way more lizards and geckos and salamanders/skinks this year. I was out working in my yard yesterday and there were 5 of them running around me. I really enjoy watching them stalk and catch small bugs.

I'm guessing they are brown anoles. If so they are invasive. They are the same size as a regular anole though, so maybe not if you say they are tiny.

Best to leave them alone. Best bug control one has outside. Will not do any damage to anything.

Do they look like this?
If so, invasive brown anole. They outcompete the native green anole and others. Kill away, but unfortunately we may be too far gone to get rid of them.

They are taking over my yard too. Saw the 1st one maybe 5 years ago and now you cant go outside without seeing 20-30. Fast little bastards.

Saw my first one in Slidell around the end of last summer. This summer they were all over the place. Just moved to Folsom and haven’t seen any here yet.

Brown anoles are spreading like wildfire. I read some scientific piece on how the brown anoles are carving out a ground-feeding niche, and the green anoles are moving upward into trees and shrubs as a result of pressure from the brown ones. Browns are definitely more territorial, faster moving, and seemingly more agressive. Not nearly as cool looking either as the greens, with their blue eyeshadow and red throat pouches.

Houston/Katy
I legit think Houston might be the lizard capital of the world. I have never seen so many lizards in my life. I have been here for a couple years now and while there a TON of lizards I wouldn't say I have noticed an increase.

I've got a good sized back yard vegetable garden and lots of potted flowering plants and have a ton of lizards of all sorts roaming my yard.
There's the normal green but also Gecko's, skinks, brown lizards with white spots and brown with a series of bump-like ridges on their backs.
I'm glad they are there as they eat a lot of the bugs that attack my garden.

Let me know and I can send my dog over. She goes nuts hunting lizards in my yard. The lizards are far and away smarter than my dog but it is fun to watch while drinking a beer.

I know. Never said I was killing them. Unless one runs up the leg of my shorts? That poor fella is gonna die.

Unless they grow to be 14 feet long and start eating your dogs, cats and children ....Let them do their thing.

Invasive/exotic Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei) are rampant in the Houston area. Likely came in with the ornamental plant trade.

They are everywhere at my house in Houston. I have thought about teying to curb their explosive growth due to the massive amount of poops they leave behind. That is my only real issue. It's everywhere....my garage, patio, attic, stuck to walls.
