Having a hard time getting a quote from anyone, this one seemed the most professional.

708sq ft area
Existing concrete demo -$1770
New concrete driveway sections $4956
Standard 3k psi cement mix - $1750

All dirt work/grading/form setting/reinforcement install/placing&finishing/misc materials and labor included

Total: $8476

Man, that seems high

Concrete is about a 70% markup.
Labor to form place and finish is $7/sf
I guess demo is ok.

Did you shop around?

Yeah, 2 people came in over 10k, two people have not given me a quote despite coming out, & one person came in at $7500 but he didn’t shoot a laser on it & I don’t want to risk someone sloping it incorrectly as I’m having it done to correct water damage issues with house

And thanks @ cgrand

All in quote I was given relatively recently was $10. No demo needed with that quote.

I don't know what the price per yard of concrete is currently. $150? Sounds like about 11 cubic yards is what he'll need. $1,750 for concrete doesn't sound unreasonable.

Ok, so if these are legit quotes, todays market is INSANE!

Looking at my notes from when we built, my flatwork was poured in 11/19. I paid $15,500 for 4250sf of paving and sidewalks. Formed, placed, finished including all labor, material, and equipment. That’s $3.64/sf. Todays prices are 3-4x that?!

That’s about 9.50/sf not including the demo. That’s on the higher side but not a crazy price

Yep it is insane right now.
In 2021 we had a pool put in and the decking around it was 9-10/sqft.
That was no demo like the OP is looking at. So his price on the concrete itself is about right

We had our pool built 7 months ago and they were on the high end at $12 a foot. I knew they were higher than what I could find on my own, but I didn't want to trust pool decking to a contractor that ordinarily did foundational work. I'm sure they'd figure it out just fine, but $2 a foot wasn't enough for me to want to go through all the work and coordination to find that contractor. And the pool came with some amount of decking built in, and I didn't want to have more seams in the concrete than I needed.

We can thank the democrats for this. And the companies who no longer have supply or labor issues but don’t reduce their prices because consumers are not conditioned to them. Profit margins are very high.

I just got a quote back for a 20'x30' slab for metal building $10,900.

Foundation does not need fill or anything. This seems high to me.

That seems insane. I’m looking into a 1200 sq ft 4” shop pad within the next few months.

That price is pretty much right in line with today's prices. $2.50 for demo and about $8.50 for new concrete with reinforcement. Concrete is around $180 a yard plus fees, these fees add another $40-$80 per load. Figure about 70 square feet per yard on a 4-5" slab. Wire mesh is another. 75-1.00 per foot. Dump fees and or dumpster fees for the old concrete are about $300-500 a load.
