the gf saw a garter snake about 2 weeks ago and lost her shite. today i was looking at the area she said it crawled to, and a fresh snake hole was present, so i presume this is its new home

we have 2 cats and neither seem to desire to take on the monster, so what other options do i have?

My wife won't step off the cement for weeks after a garter snake or grass snake sighting. Moral of the story is it doesn't change.

That's all I have to contribute.

You could get a guinea fowl or perhaps a mongoose.

option A. leave it alone and tell her they eat cockroaches (no idea if that is true.

option B.

Oh, and because this is neither the rant nor the OT no pics of GF requested.

A fresh snake hole? Do you think the garter snake dug this hole?

It's a garter snake. Tell her you took care of it and leave it be.

Nothing really gets rid of them. Don't bother wasting your money on snake away or putting out moth balls.

The best thing you can do is (a) get an outdoor cat (b) remove places where they can hide and keep your grass cut short.

Garter snakes are absolutely harmless too

Get a real pet. Against my wishes, my dogs kill them (small yard snakes) on the regular (well dog, had to put the other one down last week).

Leave them be. My dog got grandma's yard rid of a cotton mouth last summer.

That was an expensive snake killing.

I live in the woods. I don't have garter snakes but I've got copper heads and water moccasins. They come out in the spring from wherever. The best weapon is not a shovel. It's too hard to handle like a spear. I use a scraper.

It's light and has a straight edge. But be careful. If that snake is on some leaves that are covering a tree root you're gonna feel it in your elbow when you make the stab.

I use a garden hoe for the venomous ones. I leave the rest alone. Hell, I'd feed a king snake to hang out in my backyard.

You could pray to God while dancing around the fire with it.
