Thats what i did, pump runs from 8 at night to noon. we also added the pvc sprinklers to the returns. it works awesome. the water fall wall we have doesnt cool it like those. we were 92-94 and now it stays 88-90, last night got down to 85

Thanks. I have always had my pump running, but I will start running my features at night too and see how it goes.

So run the pump at night and not during the day?

If you have a salt water pool, running at night is better for chlorine generation since you are not fighting the sun's UV rays that zap your chlorine.

I just order a rectangular sail shade that should cover 1/2 the pool. I’ll need to install two post on one side of my pool. How much tension do these require? I’m hoping I can attach taller metal post to my wood fence post for this.

Came here to post this. Get the big triangle sun shade (quality one that won't rot), install some screw eyes (can paint if you have to put on a structure), and 3 carabiners and hook that thing up in the Summer strategically to block sun during hottest parts of the day. If there isn't anything to hook the triangle to around the pool, get a huge cantilever offset umbrella.

We did this at our old house (triangle) and it made a noticeable difference in the pool temp. 3-4 degrees.

We have a 30k glacier chiller that I panic bought at the end of pool construction. Days after we filled in early May the water was already near 90 degrees. We already had a gas heater purchased and installed so a combo wasn’t really an option. So far very pleased with the chiller. Not exactly sure about electricity costs bc when it’s time to chill the pool then it’s usually time to aerate the pond in our yard and run the AC what seems like 24 hours a day. The unit ran about 2800 last year plus 400 install. Which not exactly pleased with the way it was plumbed. Rest of pool is fully auto but this couldn’t be worked in. Also something is screwy and pool doesn’t circulate as well when it’s running. So bugs etc can accumulate. I run robot to compensate. It’s very effective temp wise though. We have NO SHADE until 5-6 pm. Water temps earlier this week when it was off were 94. Ran chiller from evening until am and woke up to 84 ish. It’ll pop up to 86/87 max during the day while running.

With overnight air temperature dropping to 73°, my pool temperature was 82° this morning running those two aerators overnight at 2800 RPMs

I have about same size pool, what chiller did you go with?

Should be good for around 5-8 degree difference in my experience, which isn’t bad.
