As far as home cleanliness and organization goes?

Do y’all follow a cleaning/activity schedule? Just do what you see needs to be done? Block time to do house chores?

At this point I’m just trying to keep the kids alive and living vicariously through the people on this board who do have the time to keep their shite looking pristine

Pretty much this. If I see a problem I try to own it and address it right away. There's nothing worse to me than being gone for a few weekends in a row and then having to spend a whole weekend to catch up on chores when I'm finally home.

I love cutting grass and working in the yard. It’s a borderline sickness.

Going on vacation in a few weeks and I’m legitimately concerned with how my yard will look when I come back having not being mowed for a week.

Yep, 3 kids and 3 dogs, we just chase the problem from one area to another. Clean the kitchen, shite the living room is a mess. Clean their rooms shite the basement is a mess. Clean up the yard, shite whole house is a mess. It's never ending.

When kids were in the house, we had strict chore times and days. I work offshore so routine was important. Now that my kids are gone, we have two Roombas and a cleaning lady once every two weeks. Wife and I have become OCD about our flower beds and yard. Two adults living in a big house still has plenty thing to clean and maintain.

I use a Roomba and Bravia to keep our floors clean. We're in new construction and don't have grass in back yet, having a dog and kid I think we'd sweep and mop all day to keep floors clean. I run these things on a schedule and do on demand jobs when they're done, super easy.

This might sound a little crazy but I will invite family members or something over for dinner on a Sunday or something. Kind of makes you stop doing other things and clean up real quick.

That’s literally the only thing keeping my house presentable

Life hack:

For a weekend (or at least a Friday) with clean house, I’ll call my wife while I’m at work (she’s a nurse and has most fridays off) and say ____ & _____ are coming over tonight - so she’ll clean the bathrooms, kitchen, and living room and cook something before I get home… but when I get home I’ll just say something like ohhh they backed out or something else came up and BOOM, clean house for the day/night

4 years of marriage and she hasn’t caught on yet

Having kids myself... if you prepare, have a "Never walk past a problem" mindset, and understand how little time it actually takes to tidy up, it's not that hard.

That said, our house isn't spotless. It's reasonably cluttered with kid stuff. Pretty sure half of a kid's fun playing with a toy lies in removing it from where it goes.

Four kids, sports and a busy life.

We do a few things, but the most effective by far has been the “15min Blitz Party.”

Every evening a bit before dinner, we let one of the teens put loud music on and we set a 15min timer. Everyone moves around the house cleaning random things. Kids mostly focus on kid things, parents hit everything else.

After about 2wks, you start having trouble cleaning for the whole 15min because you are pretty caught up. The main reason it works is that there’s a clear end time set and it’s only 15min.

my wife is a clean-freak and consistently has the energy of a 15yo teenage boy.

having said that, she gets to fussing about how often she has to vacuum and mop given we have 4 dogs and a cat.

i hit the sex lottery when i bought a robot vac for the new house. so much so i just got a second one for upstairs.

a dolphin in the pool is a must and having a more manageable yard to mow now definitely helps. I had 2.5 acres before on a hill and just mowing, weeding and blowing things off took a good half a day then i'd be wasted the rest of the day.

There are lots of great cleaning schedules online that can be easily modified for your family/lifestyle. I have mine set up with tasks that are done weekly on certain days and then also things that happen monthly/quarterly/etc.

I also try to be strict about doing something now if it takes 2 minutes or less to do.

Also, organization-wise, don't put something down... put it away. If you find yourself constantly looking at a pile of dirty laundry in a certain spot, put your hamper there instead. Fighting function with aesthetics is a losing battle IMO.

Easy really. My wife still works outside the home and I'm retired, so cleaning the house and other chores like that I take on.

Sweep a few times a week, dust and mop once a week minimum, or as needed with tracking stuff in from outside. A few loads of wash a week between towels, my kick-around clothes etc. and the wife washes her stuff on Sunday to be clean for the work week.

Cut, trim and clean up after yard work which includes taking care of my big backyard vegetable garden and doing any maintenance on the house as needed.

I also cook damn near every meal we eat, along with 75% of the grocery shopping.

There really is not much to keeping up this shite if you put your mind to it.

I try to remember to run the robot daily. Makes a world of difference when your Labrador is shedding.

The kids do alot of the regular cleaning once a week. Sweep, dust, mop, they do dishes and wipe down the kitchen.

Wife does the shopping and cleans our room, bathroom, and laundry.

I do the outside stuff, repairs, handle cars, projects, cook and tell the kids when stuff you don't clean weekly needs to be done.

Roomba daily keeps floor in check. Kitchen wiped down daily after cooking/eating. Bathrooms/floors in main areas on Saturday morning after a couple of cups of coffee kick in. Laundry is a whenever thing. Someone’s hamper is full? Wash. Makes way to dryer eventually then dumped on bed or floor and put away same day. Not too bad, but I only have a husband, one kid and one dog. Once a week I cut the grass and husband weed eats. Once a season I pressure wash the exterior that needs it. I enjoy house chores because the result is worth it.

I finally broke down and hired my aunt to clean our house biweekly.
200 a month and it’s worth every penny.
I hate dedicating a day to cleaning . Much rather be building something or drinking by the pool with the wife and kids .
