Another idea is to put tarp down in attic under shingles. And have a bucket on standby if leaking does occur.
It's at the top of the ridge, so not much rain will hit that spot compared to a spot lower down the roof. That's where all the runoff occurs.

Got everything tarped. Insurance agent came out and helped. Assured me a new roof.

That roof lifted even where the shingles are still in place so there certainly shouldn’t be anything other than 100% replacement. Most insurance companies are doing complete replacement especially after a recorded weather event like that.

FYI - your agent doesn’t make that decision but if you can get him to put that in writing and then sign a contract with a roofing contractor there is no insurer stupid enough to not agree on total replacement since you now have an estoppel argument on top of a wind-damaged roof.
