Another one is similar but not as bad. The wall was built out to this level so im guessing it’s an issue with how plumb they made the wall. Is it fixable? Would you say something? Frustrating with the money we have spent

I would say something. That is a pretty large gap.

Is the cabinet level? Could easily be the floor and be fixed with a couple shims.

It sure doesnt look level, but the picture could be deceiving.

Either you live in the Leaning Tower or it was installed incorrectly.

This looks bad and the installer should have discussed with you about your options.

As others have implied, take a small level to the cabinet and check to see if it's level. Check all directions. If this checks out, then put it on the sheetrock next to the cabinet.

I would use a level as small as possible to have multiple checks, plus it will let you see where the wall starts to lean back. (assuming that is the issue). Also would not hurt to check the ceiling as it appears the cabinet is properly flushed against the ceiling.

Only way to fix an out of plumb wall is to rip the sheetrock off and hire a carpenter to add some sister studs to the existing studs to make the wall plumb. I have the same problem in areas of my old house. If it’s not severely out of plumb, a good tile guy could tile that wall and make it appear plumb by using more mortar backer as he goes up the wall.

I would not accept that. Hopefully, you have not paid the guy yet.

Yes, it is fixable and the person you spent the money with should be the one fixing it.

A piece of trim generally fixes a lot of things, but I am not sure his wife will be happy about it.

Just asked the contractor if we can do anything about it and he said yes will look at it. I can take more pics when I get home. The other unsightly part is that the caulk gradually expands along the top of the stone backsplash

people think that their house is square and things are straight but they rarely are.

that's more out of level then the norm but its easily finished off with some decorative molding. I would add a short 2x4 at top corner and screw through cabinet to secure it so you have something solid to mount the trim molding to at the top

Cabinet just need some closure molding if cabinet itself is square.
How thick does the caulk/grout line expand on the backsplash? Tile guy will still lay his tile straight if the wall is not square, hence the gap.
