Home Depot is cutting a brand from its inventory as part of a "reset" of its outdoor power equipment.

The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) said Tuesday it's "accelerating its investments" in the reset as it "refines and simplifies its primary brands across the category." That means, in part, discontinuing the Ego line of outdoor power tools, owned by Chervon Group, and have been sold at Home Depot since 2014. Ego products are also sold at Ace Hardware.

First Briggs & Stratton declares bankruptcy the very day after I bragged about fixing my B&S lawnmower engine then Home Depot stops carrying EGO 3 months after I heavily invested in EGO products from...HOME DEPOT.

Ouch. That's going to leave a mark. I love EGO. I guess the one good thing is that we might get to snag some clearance items.

i get that but i didnt purchase from ace so doing a hot-swap return on a saturday if something breaks in store is off the table now.

there's a reason you buy certain products at local big box stores.

I've had my EGO blower for years now. I freaking love it. Hell, I bet I have had it for close to five years now. That seems crazy but maybe that's right.

I have been eyeing their pole saw. I really need one.

had my blower since march and its ridiculous. it can knock out a 30x30 concrete pad in like 30 seconds.

i love using the turbo mode to clear spiderwebs from the exterior of the house too.

Which one did you get? I've been wanting to go battery powered but I'm worried about the power.

I have the 530cfm and it has plenty of power. It might feel a little weak just using the dial throttle, but it moves enough air to easily get the job done on leaves and grass clippings. For heavy stuff just use the turbo button and it's almost on par with a gas blower at high throttle, maybe even better than some. Mine easily moves piles of damp and caked up leaves off concrete with the turbo button.

There are plenty of videos on youtube, including some head to head tests vs gas blowers.

As for the battery life, I have the 2.5ah (second to smallest they sell) and it has enough juice to clear 400ft of roadfront, 400ft of sidewalk, 60ft of driveway, and 2500sqft of patio after mowing, and that's after using the same pack to trim around a house on 1 acre lot with 500' of fence. Of course that is only using just enough throttle on the trimmer to get the job done (far from wide open, that thing has plenty of power too), and using the turbo button on the blower sparingly.

For reference, the blower will run for about an hour at low throttle on the 2.5ah pack, but only about 7-8 minutes on turbo.

As a bonus, you can use battery equipment indoors, so if you need to make a point about how messy your child's room is, you can do it without making anyone puke.

got the 530 w/ 2.5ah battery; same as kork; same experience as kork except i almost always keep my finger on the turbo button b/c the battery never seems to run out.

also have the string trimmer with a 5.0ah so between the 2 batteries, i never run out of juice.
