Has anyone in Louisiana planted their plumeria in the ground with success?

My plumeria is getting huge. At some point, the costs of larger and larger pots is going to get very expensive.
I'm considering just putting it in the ground, but am worried about the colder months.

We have ours in a big pot that is hard to move and have plans to put a pvc frame over the top with a heat lamp inside. I think it will keep is toasty

Plumeria can start taking damage at 38F. Not likely to work in ground without major ongoing protection.

That's what I'm thinking about doing. Was just wondering if the ground temps would stay warm enough with the heat lamp.

I plant in the ground in the spring and dig up each fall before the freezes get here.

I planted two near my pond and they are probably ten years old. They die back some in the cold, but return in the spring.

I’ve only seen it grown in ground at botanical gardens and arboretums that can care for it/protect it.
