Thanks. It was my design. I wish I had more space between the sink and grill bc that’s where I fry fish. I bought the 5 burner blaze grill which is overkill for me. I wish I would’ve bought the 4 burner which I think would’ve maximized my counter space. Contractors subs did the work. It was part of a new construction.

Love it man. Looks nice

That’s my reason for wanted the burner on the left. I want counterspace by the burner when I’m frying or cooking.

If I’m using only the grill, I can put a land and stuff on the burner as counter space

I originally wanted the burner on the left to fry on. I’m glad I didn’t have enough room to put it there bc it doesn’t get hot enough to fry in my pot. (Plumbers who did my house didn’t run enough btus to it even though I told my contractor it wasn’t enough). thankfully, my boss suggested I put an outlet over the counter when we were doing electrical rough in. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten bc I use an electric fryer and it’s much easier.

For a $50K outdoor kitchen, it better make me erect every time I walk out there.

What polyurethane do you have on, semi gloss?

Yes, it’s a satin or semi-gloss outdoor polyurethane. Since it’s on the ceiling I didn’t use a spar or anything special. I do use it on the cypress posts and have to refinish them every couple years.

We have alot of that on our patios, alot of it. It was left unvarnished....we want to get something on it, and like our neighbors which is glossy. They also have the bead side showing which I like on theirs but we have so much I am kind of glad ours is on the flat. Have someone quoting me on the finish now, just need to tell them which polyurethane to get.

Question about the staining and poly. My builder was only planning on staining all of my cypress, no poly. Guess my question is down the road when it needs to be refinished/restained, would it be easier to re-stain or apply more poly? Does the old poly need to be sanded first?

Here’s where I’m at with mine. The underside of the gable roof will be all tongue and groove cypress.

About $4400, plus whatever granite I buy

Got a really good priced brick guy direct.

Other quotes i received were in the 10,000 range

Does that include your cabinets or just the brick work? where you located? Can you share your guy's info?

What kind of stain is he using?

If you use something like TWP, it shouldn’t need poly and supposedly lasts a while. I bought a gallon or two of it and never used it because I didn’t like the final color. But it has great reviews.

For my cypress posts, I sanded, stained, and poly. I usually put 3 coats of spar poly on them and it lasts a few years. Reapplying is pretty easy, but you do have to sand a little to clean and prep the surface. I then reapply with a roller.

We are using TWP for the stain and his opinion was I didn’t need the poly. Was just wanting somebody else’s opinion. Appreciate it.

Few more things want to suggest…. Even if Bbq grill has built in lighting, is not enough to cook at night or see a temp gauge. We are adding more gimbal lights on ceiling above bbq pit. Need oscillating wall fan in corners for 100 degrees summer temps. We used Jim Owens Carpet for our granite. We gave them list of all appliances and brand names for dimensions. Guy came out and did laser measurements. Perfect… put seams in back area of BBQ grill & burner. Cannot see them. Awesome job. Worth $8200 & didn’t want to deal with two separate purchase and installer for job. Maybe a double brick wall for outside walls to have 6 inch brick back splash. Would help with cooking on burner on windy days. That’s all my comments.

I would stain with TWP.
I would not poly.
if/when the sunlight fades it to your dislike, just reapply TWP.

my cypress beams and all ceiling boards are TWP, no poly.
