Got a bathroom remodel quote for 2 bathrooms...

Rent your own dumpster and deliver it to your house, do the demo yourself for both bathrooms. Maybe get another sub to do the drywall? Idk how you feel about that proposed master bath layout...but you’d save a lot of money keeping the plumbing and current layout, maybe putting a nice tiled shower in the place or the current tub, and then give kids’ bathroom a nice soaking tub/shower combo.

Don’t really know your DIY skill level. Can do the trim work and vanity install as well IMO. Get some more quotes, see if you get a lower total cost subbing out the different jobs, or pay the guy and just be done with it.

we’re pretty set on the master floor plan because the wife wants her own stand alone tub

we’re good without a double vanity. rather have a single 48” and some underneath cabinet space to strore bathroom shite. wife also says she doesn’t want an extra sink to clean

i did that playing around on google sketch up.
had a contractor that wanted me to pay $750 for a bathroom design.the existing are from the original 1968 floor plans

The "moving of the door" comment was assuming you scratched the new tub and basically expanded the shower where your current tub/shower combo is (no tub), and was referring to the entry door to the bathroom being moved towards the vanity a few inches (try 6"?). IMO it's too tight of a space for a tub AND shower. Can you knock out a wall, perhaps?

Also, keeping as close to the same footprint you have will save significant amount of money. BUT... you and your wife know what you like/want and as long as you are happy with it, that's what really matters.

Your current layout is fairly close to the layout we have in our bathroom, window placement included, except we have a 7' vanity wall-to-wall and about a 5' "deep" shower directly to the right of entering. However, we had to move a wall and rearrange plumbing significantly (slab) to get there (I'm jealous of your layout!). And it still didn't cost nearly what you are being quoted. I did the construction and fixture installation myself with some wise council, though.

ETA: Could possibly replace the current window with a narrower 18" window. A little more money sure, but that may be some simple framing you could take on yourself and give you some more flexibility in the design if that's a concern.

Agree with the other guys, seems high. Fewest moves of plumbing would save money. Also, I would ditch the tub and go with a large walk in shower.

well we bought the drop in tub today so wife gonna get her way. decided to forgo the stand alone and get a drop in tub for a 66" x 36" tub deck. tub deck should give us a little more space and wont have to worry about relocating the blower. these heated hydrobubbles better be fricking incredible...
