These traps are awesome, but they smell horrible. We have several in different spots of the yard and change them out often. They work very well.

I had a patio fly issue for a bit. There was a cavity where the small gap b/n the house slab and patio slab met. I noticed some flying from there and sprayed the crap out of it with insect poison , then filled it in with sand. Fly problem went away. Must've been breeding there. Later learned there was a slow pipe leak there FWIW. It fed the problem by providing moisture. Luckily close enough to edge of slab not to cost a fortune.

I just bought one of these, and they work great!
Do yourself a favor and google the safety "mod" for these. Makes it much easier to fire multiple shots.

I didn't know the 1.0 and 2.0 had the safety reset issue. I purchased a 3.0 model and it has a typical cross bolt safety. It doesn't reset after each shot. I guess the Bug-A-Salt factory didn't like people modifying their gun.

This is after about 8-9 days with the Quikstrike. Like I said, pretty damn disgusting.

I get these at Home Depot for about $6 each. They work like a champ. I place them about 25 feet from the porch. I have 2 and both are half full with dead flies. I use 2 at a time and keep a spare. Don’t put them close to outdoor chairs or grill. It smells. And it works.
These do work but word to the wise….they smell like arse.

How do you guys dispose of these? They work amazingly well, but the "juice" sticks on anything and doesn't wash off. I thought I sealed it once and put it in the garbage can and it leaked and my garbage can is now the biggest fly magnet on the block. Really sucks.
But I want to keep using them.

I think temporarily you're adding some flies to your area, but long term you have to think it's killing a ton that would've laid eggs on the property.

Put them in the trash but not until the morning of trash pick up. In a trash bag, not loose.

Heck yes, but as others have said, use a seperate trash bag and get rid of them once per week during trash pickup.
The bag ones are gross, get the plastic container, they seal off well and aren't messy.

Irish spring soap, cut in to piece hang in a mesh bag.

Upvote for Quikstrike Fly bait. Works ridiculously well even though I haven't tried with the beer..
Another upvote for the bug-a-salt safety mod. Literally takes 1 minute and is a game changer to really have some fun! You're thumb will thank you later too!

put wal mart bag over it, cut the string let it drop, tie up wal mart bag and put in garbage on garbage day

Only when I get right up on it. My container is sitting on top of a small fridge I have on my back porch. I can sit 6-10ft from it and not smell it. If I smell it when I immediately go out on the porch, I put the lid on it and throw it in the trash.
I just ordered the bags and will hang 2 of them about 20ft from the back porch hoping to attract them elsewhere. With the loose granules of the Quikstrike, I haven’t figured out a way to place it off the porch and not endanger the dog.
