I’m tearing down an 8ft tall wooden privacy fence for my elderly neighbor and I don’t know what to charge her? She has a relatively large yard and I’m also hauling it away. It’s gonna take me a few weeks. I don’t want to overcharge her but o also don’t want to cut myself short because it’s hard labor work. I’ve never done a job like this before so any idea??? I’m already about halfway through and I’d like to give her a quote...

I'm wondering why a job like that would take weeks to do rather than a couple of hours. Are you taking it apart board by board?

Install is around $13 a linear foot, well before covid prices surge, so maybe $5 a foot?? I know people will say do it for free, but some people insist on paying, which sounds like her.

Resell the wood and split the money with her instead. With the price of lumber, should be able to make $30,000 each

Dump Fees only. The elderly saved better than most of us, but are still on tight budgets or fixed income. It's being neighborly.

Lmao... for an 8' privacy fence? You're wrong, my friend.

Even before Covid, an 8' fence was in the ball park of $20 /LF. OP, do it for the cost of fuel, and dumping it. Help the elderly folks out.

And if she doesn't like your price?

My vote as well. If she insists on paying you ask for a shiny coin

Maybe he’s doing it because he needs the extra money.

I have one question that is key…..do you have to pull up the posts or is it acceptable to cut them off at or slightly below ground with a chainsaw.

This is key, because if you have to pull posts up, that will be 90% of the work.

Yeah. I know we’re a bit worse than the rest of the known universe, but LC is about 26-28/ft for 6’ pine

Also if you’re half done, you’re about halfway through the job too late to name a price
