EGO lawn equipment Battery run time vs extra weight

I just picked up a 650 CFM blower that I really dig that has a 5AH battery. I decided to make the jump into the trimmer and edger as well. Lowes has the power load carbon fiber shaft version on sale (ending today) for $199...but it has the 2.5AH battery. I see they have a 5AH version...is the added weight of the 5AH version diminishing returns because the 2.5 last plenty long for most trimming jobs?
I also only currently see the 5AH version on amazon for almost $600...but on the EGO site it shows 329 so I'm not sure if there is some price inflation going on. I aint paying 600 for it tho I know that

How do you like the EGO blower?
I have a bunch of Ridgid batteries and a few drills, and was considering theirs. However, the price is so high now that the EGO is looking attractive for the price. (Not the 650 though) I'm not terribly familiar with EGO as a brand but the reviews have me pretty well sold.

I have never entertained battery operated lawn equipment before. Went to start my gas blower and couldn't get it going and got aggravated...went to Lowes and bought it. I had remembered seeing the EGO name before as being good so I didn't look too much into it.
I love the blower...it humms pretty good and last plenty long enough for what I use it for. I could use it several times on one charge it seems. So that's why im interested in trying the trimmer and edger now.
I was just assuming id get a 5AH battery like the blower but its looking like 2.5. I am not interested in spending the stupid price they charge on just a battery either so I get what it comes with.
I see the milti head unit comes with a 5AH and I could get trimmer and edger but would end up with just the one battery and no power load on the trimmer...but is it that much better than the rapid reload feature?
Cant seem to find the stand alone edger for sale anywhere so it all may be a moot point and ill have to get the multi head unit.

Not sure if you consider the reconditioned tools. I've had good luck with almost all of them I've ordered.

Seems that the stand alone edger has been discontinued by EGO so the only option is the multi head version.
Their marketing is superb. If you want a edger and trimmer you can spend 500 and have 2 2.5ah batteries or 400 and get 1 5ah.
Looks like ill just get the multi head combo with the 5ah. I guess thanks for letting me air this out on here

I just don't really need those things so I was looking at just a stand alone edger and trimmer and was hoping to get 2 5ah batteries...but they pretty much spell it out for you what you will get and if you need extra batteries you buy them separate for an insane amount Ahh well
What chainsaw do you have. I have a gas powered one already but it too needs work...I just don't use it much.

<--- CARD CARRYING MEMBER OF THE CULT OF EGO
GREAT DEALS here

my old 'non ego' hedge trimmer battery died so i was looking at just getting the ego trimmer sans battery and use the 2 i already have for the blower & string trimmer but they're $100 without a battery and for $139 this includes the battery & charger!
whats the risk? the battery dies at some point? dont care..was planning to get it without one anyway. '
you just made my day.
and OP, ego is the shite. best yard products i've ever owned. the blower is a damn beast and string trimmer is ridiculously easy to swap out the line.
2 biggest things i hate about yard work:
- a yard tool that wears me out trying to get the pull string to start the gas engine. i'm sick of babying my tools and swapping spark plugs and maintaining proper fuel & oil ratios.
- getting halfway done w/ string trimming and spending 20 minutes fricking with a shitty line refill process.
at least for the 3 ego tools; both of these are non issues.
PROTIP - get the husqvarna replacement string for your EGO and go ahead & cut a bunch to the correct length & hang them on a hook. then when your trimmer is out.. you just go grab one off the hook, run it through the ego and twist a few times and ready to rock. whole process takes under a minute.

I have the blower and mower. Both have been absolutely rock solid for me. Couldn't recommend them more.
If anyone is considering the mower though, don't bother with the self-propelled version. It's light enough that you can push it easily. Only thing that I regret about the purchase.

I have a very small yard and have the EGO mower. Very happy with it. Plastic base reduces weight and I don't have to worry about gasoline, oil, etc.
On drawback, being a plastic base, it is not as durable as my old metal base lawnmower.

Sorry I meant the 14 16 or 18" version. The 16 and 18" would net me another 5ah battery. I hardly use my gas chainsaw but I could use it to cut firewood logs in 1/2 to fit my solo stove so I don't have to drag out my dewalt chop saw.
I have a zero turn mower im completely content with. I would be hard pressed to switch that to a battery operated one. Its a big step for me to look at the trimmer and edger...the blower was just really nice so I will test the waters.

dammit you guys.
now i've added a 16" refurb EGO chainsaw to my ACME cart along w/ the hedge trimmer. this gets me over $200 so shipping is free now and i got a coupon for signing up on the site for $10.
i swear TD is going to put me in the poor house.

Well I was on the fence and just ordered the refurbished blower for $139. Apparently the $10 coupon doesn't apply to EGO...I learned that after signing up for it.
I just poured 950' of concrete for my pool and pavilion so an easy to use blower sounded like a good investment.

Home Depot had the bare edger for $30 a few months ago.

I was talking about a edger with a battery not just a battery. Thanks for looking out tho

its got a dial to make it stronger or weaker and of course the legendary TURBO button.
TURBO is the shite but you'll want to dial it down around the pool so you dont blow everything into the pool until you've got it rounded up.
bad thing is i can eat a 2.4 battery down in maybe 10 minutes because i can't help but keep that turbo button down.
all that power.....must enjoy power....

I look forward to stripping the Sundek coating off and being in trouble with the wife.
