What does this board suggest?

Brands like Ring, SimplySafe, etc.

Frigate/home assistant if you’re tech savvy as in using Linux command line and setting up a basic reverse proxy and port forwarding. Game changing. Power to control and document everything exactly how you want including alerts. I set mine up with a custom agent and can basically ask it about anything that has ever happened outside my house.
Eg: hey Alexa, ask frigate if the trash came today.

Have had Ring a pretty long while. They did raise the price of monitoring recently but at least I get a discount on my homeowners for having it. No issues with it.

Had simplisafe for years and was happy with them. Only real complaint was I would have random sensors go offline for no reason. I’d order a new battery and it would be reconnected without me doing anything.

Switched to ring because it’s about $20 a month cheaper since I already had ring with my doorbells and floodlights.

I’ve had SimpliSafe for about 6 years and it works well. Enjoy the control I have and being able to add things to it. Water sensor in AC drain saves me efforts etc…. Batteries can go out sometime and that is an easy change out. Watch Batteries for most.

Get a few guns and have your wife take self defense classes. Take her to the gun range every few months, then go get Sushi after..at Ichibans. She’ll get the fruit roll every time, which you think is a waste of money, but it’s all worth it to protect the fam in case something pops off. Eventually she’ll ask for her own gun, but that part takes about a year.

I’ve got 175 pounds of German shepherds and that’s a pretty good deterant.

Ring costs less and doesn’t shed

May try Eufy here after my Arlo camera batteries have increased so much in price. Solar is the way to go.

Their premium subscription can do emergency calls. I have them paired with smarthings so motion can trigger different events. For example if my camera triggers motion my outside lights will turn on to 100%.

I have the cameras in smarthings with door/window sensors and motion detectors so I can trigger certain tasks depending on the time.

Tapo. Made by Deco. Easy wifi interface with great app. Can do battery, wired, or solar powered. 128GB SD card on loop will capture a months worth of video based on your detection zones and alarms. AI recognizes motion, people, pets and vehicles. Also records sounds and will trigger on broken glass or dog barking. Highly recommend. No contract unless you want cloud storage.
