Roundup mixed strong and applied by hand with a latex glove has always worked for me. Much easier than digging.

I had to bite the bullet and dig the shite out by the roots last year.

Roundup make a gel that looks like deodorant. Thought it would be easier application. It doesn’t work.

Always wanted to try a cloth glove on top of latex. Just to not drip as much roundup.

Has anyone bought or used one of these Fiskars weed pullers? I'm always leary of these tools but Fiskars tends to make good products. I just don't know how it would handle our crap clay soils.

I like to scoff at the gardening segments of This Old House when you see what soil looks like in the rest of the country.

I have one. Purchased specifically for dallisgrass. I gave that thing hell last year. It does work. But if the ground isn’t soft you’ll break it.

My entire subdivision is full of dallisgrass. I have the least now that I’ve spent two years pulling some and applying roundup to some. But you can’t keep it from coming from the neighbors yards.

Pre-emergent goes a long way in preventing re-establishment of Dallisgrass.

What pre-emergent works for Dallisgrass?

Pre-emergent’s prevent seeds from germinating. They will not kill the weeds present, but prevent future weeds.

Neither will prevent Dallisgrass. Pre em’s don’t work on every weed.

That is simply not true. Dallisgrass seeds are not immune to pre-emergents. Where are you getting this information?

Digging up works great on a small amount of weeds. For larger amounts I get an extension to my sprayer so the wand is basically touching the ground. Use round up mixed weak so that drips and stuff aren't as bad, and I just walk around with light water pressure so I don't overspray as much and just spray the area around it. Works well enough for me and I don't have to bend down or anything.

I don't know what that site is but the information is false. I am getting the information directly from the label on the two products you mentioned.
Prodiamine Specticle

Dithiopyr is a pre em that has dallisgrass listed but the effectiveness isn't there.

The information is from the University of California. It includes a table with six different chemicals, as well as the trade names. I will defer to the experts. You can do as you wish.

That is not very responsible of the University of California. Dallisgrass is not on the label for prodiamine or specticle and the label is the law. Neither of those pre ems will prevent dallisgrass.
LSU Ag

LSU lists only dithiopyr as a pre em and in my experience it isn't very effective.

I use “grandpa’s weeder” it is perfect for crabgrass but your mileage varies on other weeds.
