I'll gladly pay $10k for a nice above ground pool sunken a bit then build a deck and such around it myself, then throw it away when I'm tired of it.

I’ve got about $5k in this thing. 16’x32’, about 15k gallons. When I get tired of dealing with it all I have to do is spread out the dirt. Will probably build a deck for it eventually, though.

My best friend's wife and kids wanted a an inground pool. He said that he would buy one like this and if they actually used it then he would put one inground. They used it for the first year, almost none the second year, and it was gone before the third.

He always says its the best purchase he ever made because it saved him $100k+ on something he knew the family wouldn't use.

I would imagine these pool la get unbearably hot during the summer being so shallow?

Appreciate all the responses. May quote out different options just to get an idea of what I’m looking at locally.

I run the fountain at night. This morning the water temp was 84 degrees F. It'll creep up closer to 90 by the end of the day. But it rarely goes above 90 unless we have a long stretch of triple digits with no rain or cloud cover. Which does happen.

Do you think most people who spend 125k on a pool plan to just fill it in eventually?

There are so many variables in the cost.

Basic 15x25 ish pool, gunite basin, basic waterline tile, cool deck and sod, you’re looking at 80k minimum. Adding the hot tubs puts you into 100k.

Depending on where you live, hot tubs are pretty worthless. Better off getting a heater cooler system if you live in south LA.

Your decking materials will also inflate the hell out of cost. Also you will need to make sure you have adequate access for equipment.

Deck is in progress, did it in phases so the kids would have a large portion to use while I slowly worked on the other side.

Will eventually be an "outdoor kitchen" there as well. Covered, some cabinets/counters, sink, etc. will have power and water run to it. Doing all of it myself.

What? You bought a house not knowing what you were getting? I’m not understanding this

Seriously looking into getting a fiberglass pool/spa combo. 15x35. I have gotten quotes between $90k to $120k after taxes and travel fees.

Saving up now hoping to put it in next year when MSTR/MTPLF moons and rates drop.

No. We bought a house that had the pool in the plan. Even though we wanted to change a few things about the pool, we were not able to make changes. Even though they were no where close to building the pool at the time we made the purchase

I've never heard of a builder selling a house that required a pool to be attached. Am I reading that right? The builder owned the pool company also if that's the case.

he didnt "require" it. It was a package deal. The builder has some lots available that you can buy, when available, and basically pick everything. Then they have some lots that they "spec" build homes and pick all the options. When we bought our home, things were already selected , by them, and permitted. The "spec" homes can not be changed once permitted.

Ours was that. Only about 30% of the homes in our sub division have pools.

We wanted a pool and this house had everything else we wanted plus more.

It's in the plans! If I can talk my wife into it.

The beach house we rent every year has an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. It is so refreshing to strip it down and shower outside after a day on the beach.
