I charge $400 a day but if you help it can be a lot more. If you are an engineer, then find someone else.

A competent carpenter with all the tooling will run at least $500 a day. Helper $100-$300 more.

Just hire a contractor that already has crews. Trying to find some random carpenter and looking to do it cheap is the perfect way to screw up a remodel. If you do find one willing to work cheap then he's probably not that great of a carpenter and can't do all the stuff he's telling you he can do anyway.

Yep. Don't need the homeowner to "help". They get in the way more often than not, and don't let the wife start making design decisions as the work is in progress.

Also, throw in architects in the mix with the engineers.

GC here as well. A good carpenter is worth good money but that's a lot We have a $37 an hour + gas card and two $400 a day "master carpenters" that are great carpenters that can do a little of everything. They are worth it. They would not be worth 360k a year though

I had some water damage from a leak in the attic repaired by a remodeling contractor. Drywall repair, trim, & painting. He charged me $55 per man hour + materials. There were 3 guys working doing paint but only 1 guy there doing drywall & trim work. Location Gulf Shores.
