Calling all Bermuda Grass Gurus

After scrapping my yard about three years ago and using Bermuda seeds my lawn is only about 50% Bermuda. I fertilize and use MSMA regularly to kill everything else. Any tips on how I can get Bermuda to fill in better?

mow low and often (2-3x per week). If using rotary mower, cut on the lowest setting possible. Fertilize with high N fert at 0.5lbs nitrogen per 1000 sq feet every 2 weeks. Water when needed.

How much sun does your yard get?
It isn't a shade grass.

This. I have a mix of common and celebration. In mediocre sunlight areas the common is really sparse and scraggly, even when cutting often and low.
Common
Celebration
These two pics were taken about 6' from each other, both get about 6 hours of sun.
The best thing I did that helped me spread mine was getting a pro plugger and going after it. Seemed like plugs filled in and made a lawn a lot quicker than areas that I seeded.

Full sun. At 3/4 of an acre a bit too much to water. But tell me more about a "pro plugger". Not sure what this is all about.

From personal experience .5 and .6 Inch are the optimal hoc for common bermuda to run aggressively and fill 1000sqft or more.
All you need is plenty of water and fertilizer.
I used 46-0-0 urea every month and ammonium sulfate every month. So every 2 weeks I was laying one of those down.
This is on clay.
I ripped out a deck and planted seed.
At 1 inch it just grew upright.
At .6 it has spread and filled in and getting thick.
Also changed from rotary to a cheap sunjoe battery reel mower.

Just know that your yard needs to be flat, not level, in order to effectively mow at those low heights. Otherwise, you will get a lot of scalping. So, go as low as you can without scalping and then level if you want to kick it up a notch.

I thought that if you wanted your lawn to be healthy, you needed to cut it longer and less frequently.
No?

I was mowing at .6 on a john deere 42inch tractor with minimal scalping.
The reel I have zero scalping.
The op doesn't need to worry about scalping at this point. He just needs the bermuda to run.Any low spots he can spot fill with play sand over the next couple months.
He needs worry about how it looks next year not this season.

When it get hot and dry with little rain bermuda needs to be cut longer and less frequently. I cut mine 2.5" most of the time and 3" when it is hot and dry to protect the roots. These are setting on my Hustler zero turn.
This is with my established lawn and tons of masonry sand on it to level out low scalping spots. I buy three tons of sand each year and this may be the last year I need to.

Well shite, I’ve been letting my lawn grow longer in hope that it would thicken.
