Natives would be great but open to what anyone has found looks good and what color it turns.

I don't know that they will grow that far south but a sugar maple is one of the prettiest trees in the fall.

Chinese tallow are the scourge of the earth but have great fall colors.

The white oaks and sweet gum have looked great this year.

I have decent colors in cow or overcup oaks and sawtooth oaks and southern oaks. Also good color in swamp maple. Chicken trees (Chinese tallow) as tolerated and sweet gum, this year but looking for a bright red or brilliant yellow and orange.

Has nothing to do with timber value. They’re invasive. And they start looking trashy after about 6-8 years.

Bradford Pears become dangerous after 15 years or so. They drop big branches and their trunks split. I was about 30 seconds from being under a falling branch of a BP this summer. Many vehicles are damaged by their falling branches. I advise all my clients to remove BPs if I see them on a clients property as they are a huge liability. Do Not Plant Bradford Pears.

Bradford Pears also carry diseases that are transferred to those of us that grow eating pears.

My cypress and crape myrtles are showing great color this year. But not every year.

The shumard and maples are too. They're more reliable.

We have a Japanese maple and its pretty, it turns a dark red color this time of the year.

Second the don't plant a Bradford pear, it'll break in half if some one farts next to it.
