I would not have even remotely thought about an electric Ego zero turn until I watched this video a couple of nights ago. I was impressed to say the least.
Ego 52" gets put to the ultimate test
I'd have to seriously consider this mower after watching multiple videos about it.

Bad Boy Maverick HD with Honda engine. Thick frame and deck-powder coated. . I highly recommend getting the suspension seat. I've been well pleased. I wouldn't go less than a 54" deck on 2+ acres. This will also fit your initial budget.

That's an awesome mower as well Windmill.
A step up from my hydro transmission and who could argue with Honda efi. Better sounding engine for sure and it's a Honda.
Does come with a rop bar so be sure you have room when storing Solo.

I’ve had a gravely 52” for four years and it’s the sheet. Whichever you go with just change the oil & filter, blades, fuel filter, and air filter before each year. Drain the gas when ya put her up for the winter. She’ll last forever. Most models you can order a kit for preventative maintenance for $80-$100 online. Some even come with blades. It’s easy to do yourself and save big money. Watch YouTube videos if ya aren’t already knowledgeable on doing it yourself.

Owned a John Deere for three years - very pleased with it. When I moved back to civilization, gave it to my son-in-law - he likes it also. I only had about 1.5 acres to tend.
But that is only experience I had with the zero turns.

Gravely Proturn 152 cutting 2.5 acres. 7th year a nothing but maintenance items.
Almost any commercial grade is what you want. All use mostly the same major components. Find a local dealer you are comfortable with. Southland Engine in Lafayette is where I got mine.
You are probably going to spend a little over 8 grand right now for a commercial grade unit but in the long run, that Kawasaki FX series engine, Hydrogear ZT3400 axles and heavy guage decks will last you a long long time.
My biggest advice is to wash the damn thing as little as possible. Cut when grass is dry and clean it with a blower.

I bought a 61” Scag Tiger Cat 2 around 2 1/2 years ago and it’s built like a tank. When I drove my dad’s Bad Boy, I couldn’t believe how cheaply built it felt compared to the Scag. Granted, I paid around $11k and his was probably $3-4k. You get what you pay for. I’d go Scag, Gravely, or Kubota.
As BHM said, go commercial. It’ll last.

Buy the largest commercial grade mower you can afford. It's more expensive but maintain it well and you'll never regret it. Mine (Hustler 52" Mini-Z) has been rocking along for 20 years now.

I have a toro. They will sell you whatever parts you need online and their website has all of the explosion diagrams. I haven't had any major issues, but my misdiagnosis of a minor issue did cause me to replace the starter motor. Either way, I have had no real problems I didn't cause myself in 5 years.

I’ve had a 42” Husqvarna for 6 years. First couple years no issues. Last couple years the right stalk just doesn’t seem to give as much control. This is despite my having it serviced every year by the dealer.
It cuts well enough, but I can’t say I’m terribly happy with it these days. As it stands I wouldn’t buy another

I just bought a hustler raptor xd with this engine. Beautiful mower and ride.
As anither poster mentioned, buy something that has a dealer close and avoid buying from big box stores.

I’ve got a John Deere 540z and love it.

Price wise consider a Bad Boy. I have one, and it's a tuff machine.

I don't regret my John Deere for a second. Change the oil and filters each spring and you are good to go.
Go to a dealer, don't get one from a big box store.

I have a Gravely. Great mower. Mine has the Yamaha engine, but the Kawasaki is just as good.
I would go commercial grade for sure with 5 acres.
