Kubota. I have three of them - tractor, zero turn, and UTV. All three run great.
The Kubota zero turn is a heavy machine and makes a great cut. It’s built like a tank and can take a lot of wear and tear. My next choice would be Scag. Very similar to the Kubota.

Hustler makes a good commercial grade mower as well, but it’s a lighter machine so it cuts and rides differently than the Kubota or Scag. If you have low spots on your property that tend to stay wet, the Hustler is preferable as it’s less likely to get stuck or make ruts. It’s also about $2K cheaper. But for the money, get the Scag or Kubota. Guarantee you you will opt to ride the Scag or Kubota over the Hustler.

Kubota is not on your list, probably due to your price point. My Kubota gas mower has maintained my 2+ acres for over 18 years. Still going with regular service.

For more than 2.5 acres, I would go diesel.

No advice here but I have seen the 1st generation Stihl zero turns and they look impressive.

I will wait for the 2nd gens, just in case.

I've had the Bad Boy Z elite with the kawasaki for a couple months no with zero complaints. I'm doing about 2.5 acres. Great machine!

I bought a 2nd hand Hustler commercial mower that currently has 18000+ hours on it with the 25 hp Kawasaki. I can recommend either brands. My next mower will definitely have a Kawasaki engine.

Buy the lowest end commercial Hustler if you have the money. If not, the Raptor is not a bad choice. Also, as others have stated, Gravelys and Scags are solid options.

Kubota was pricey but has been a good machine.

Find the lawnmower repair shop and ask them. They will let you know what to get.
Other answer here is see what that quality landscape companies are using.

Bad Boy

And if you want it to last, hit it with the blower and avoid washing it with water like the plague.

To me anything that can't take water so badly that you have to avoid it like the plague would be an automatic strike out.

I own a Kubota diesel 60" and that thing is a beast. Hopefully it lasts me another 15 yrs but the next one I buy will not be diesel. We maintain a little over 6 acres with it. I have three neighbors with the same foot print to maintain that have all recently (last 5 yrs) purchased large commercial gassers, 1 Spartan, 1 Scag, and 1 Gravely. All of those machines are faster and easier on the rider than my kubota. The cuts are comparable but I give a slight nod to the Spartan. Now my Kubota is 15 yrs old and theirs are all much newer but my machine new now is close to $20k and they're paying close to what I paid 15 yrs ago.

Pretty sure he didn’t say water would make it melt. I also use a blower to clean off mine after mowing over the hose.

To the op, I run a bad boy rebel 61” and love it. It’s a good bit above your budget but I’m not sure if you’re looking only at new and strict to your budget.

I didn't say it would melt. But there were 2 posts saying don't get it wet if at all possible which suggests getting it wet has a detrimental affect in some sort of way.

So hey, if someone says don't mow over boulders with it I can live with because who is going to do that?

But avoid getting it wet like the plague?

New owner here of a Scag Tiger Cat w/ a cup holder and usb charger is a thing of beauty. Makes grass cutting 3 acres a cool breeze.

So you strikeout all lawnmowers? The point is water will wreck your spindles over the long term; this isn't specific to one brand.

This man knows what he is talking about!!!

LISTEN TO HIM………

Kubota at the top of the list.

Honda - great engines period

Have a Bad Boy with Kawasaki. No complaints at all.

Regardless of brand, keep the water off of them.

Bought a Big Dog 42” from K&D Rental in Baton Rouge and it is going great after 3+ years. Not cheap. It was made by Excel in same plant with Hustlers.

However they are being discontinued by Black & Decker, too bad. A damn good mower.
