Going to get a new grill. Already have a ceramic egg type grill. $2500 Budget.
Building a house and i have gas plumbed to back deck. have option of doing a built in or freestanding. Just me and my wife at the moment and we plan on entertaining a good bit and will have kids within the next year or two. Looking at Rec-Tec and Napolean Prestige Pro 665 Built In and Rec Tec RT 590. Want best combination of convenience and flavor.
have never cooked on pellet but all the reviews seem to be great.

ETA: Also looking at the Otto Wilde Platform G32 Connected

Top 2 pellets IMO are the Pitts & Spitts and the Yoder.

I've had rec tec 700 for about a month now. Thing is amazing. There are some forums on Facebook that show people using it as a built in.

I was never the one for gas but my brother in law recently bought a Traeger pellet grill and man do I want one.

I just can not bring myself to pay the money for one yet. Just hanging on to my old charcoal grill/smoker I made of 20" pipe years back.

Rec Tec here and super happy with it.

Wireless features, 2 temp monitors, works perfectly controlling temp.

That being said, I think all the tech is about the same on the higher end ones these days.

I have a friend that swears by Grilla. They make a built-in version for $800. I'm leaning that way instead of a $2k gas.

I don't have one, but I've done a lot research. I think Recteq* (they changed their name) is the best bang for your buck. Of course Grilla, Pitts & Spitts, Yoder, Mak are nice, but on the higher end.

I have my mind set on getting the recteq 590 with comp cart.

Wish someone besides Masterbuilt built a charcoal gravity feed for a decent price. But that is it, bought a Gravity 1050 and not sure how it will hold up.

But man it blows the traeger out of the water if you like that classic flavor.

It is now my primary grill, except when I just need the ultra convenience of gas.

But the masterbuilt gravity is basically the same amount of work as the pellet grills IMO.

I have the egg and pellet combo. Between the two you can cook just about anything. I would definitely go the pellet route. I don't think there is that much difference between all of them. Have owned Traeger and others and they seem to do all about the same, just really a matter of style and preference. A lot of good suggestions above.

Skip the 590 get the 700 rectec. You will want the extra space. I will say this, it sucks having to take all the grates and everything out to get the ashes out. But it's rock steady with no temp variation at all hardly. And it has wireless controls. Does give u much freedom. Kinds takes the fun out of it lol. Get an amazen smoke tube to help with smoke.

I'd look at the Webber pellet grills too. Think they have an ash pot. Nice feature.

With that budget, rectec with sear grates and a Blackstone griddle and be set with money leftover.

I also have a Masterbuilt gravity, but just the 560. Very happy with ease and quality of the food so far. I've had it since June, used maybe a dozen times, only used my old gas burner once. It does a great job grilling (burgers, etc.) but really shines as a smoker and indirect cooking (like chicken thighs). I went with the gravity over a RecTec I also had my eye on due to superior grilling and the improved smoke quality/flavor over pellet. Do not regret, although I don't think it is nearly as well built as the RecTec. I should still get several years out of it though because it lives under patio.

Rec Tec is a made in China commodity grill like many others. You're paying for silly horns. They work no better/worse than than Grilla, green mountain, camp chef, traeger, or any of the other grills at that price point.

If you want American and high quality you have to step up to Yoder, Pitts and Spitts, etc. For the record, I own one of the "commodity brands" and it's fine. However I'm saving now for an American unit.....

IIRC from when I was researching this (spent way too much time) Grilla was essentially the same build quality. The difference at the time was primarily feature set - rectec had a better controller (grilla was about to add one i believe). Camp chef and green mountain were slightly cheaper but more cheaply built in terms of use and gauge of stainless steel. Traeger has numerous models that were higher priced when you got to the comparable grill

I have a newer camp chef. The huge benefit for me is the sidekick/searbox (propane) that's built in. The negatives are that the wifi controllers are garbage, so I'm stuck using manual control.
