what variety of cucumbers do you all grow here?
I’ve grown Dasher II, Poinsett 76, Marketmore 76, Straight Eight, Boston Pickling, and Sweet Success with no problems.
Dasher II and Poinsett 76 being the ones I've grown the most. Dasher II being the best and most consistent producer.

This year just burpless and mini me.
There was frost on at least one roof in my neighborhood this morning. Fingers crossed.

Appreciate everyone’s input on this soil test.
Background:
4yr old series of raised beds, originally composed of nursery raised bed mix, then amended with peat moss/blended compost/vermiculite to fill out. These beds have been super productive, and last year I decided to be a professional pepper farmer and added phosphate biased stuff from Fox Farm through the summer with great success.

you need iron, sulfur and nitrogen (especially nitrogen). if you want nature to do it for you, seed in white clover after your last harvest in the fall. the clover will fix nitrogen in the soil. legumes will do the same

Add ammonia sulfate and you should be good.

There are two things I must start from seed, and don't feel like digging out the heat pads and grow lights. Can I get them to germinate in a one of those windows that juts out?
Posted on 3/22/25 at 12:02 pm to AlxTgr
I haven’t had any issues with germination using that method.

When should I thin out strawberries? I have some in a raised bed that I started last year and they spread considerably. They’re already blooming and have green berries.
Also some of the leaves are a little yellow. What fertilizer should I hit them with?

The frost Thu night burned my potatoes pretty good. I think they'll live but they look like hell.
Cuke seeds are popping up on the heat blanket good. Peppers are still a challenge for me for whatever reason.
My tomatoes are doing well and will get transplanted to 3" pots today. Forecast for the week looks good with some rain forecast for tomorrow and again later in the week. I may go ahead and throw some bean and pea seed in the ground.
On another note, I HIGHLY recomment 30% vinegar as a weed killer. I mix it 50/50 with water and add a few tablespoons of Dawn to it and that shite works better than Roundup.

Little Sausage and I cut down the Tallow tree inside our garden fence this afternoon to make room for a couple of raised beds. We have our first sungold tomato forming and the onions are starting to bulb. May have to hill up the potatoes next weekend. Took a few pics:

Very nice. I’m way behind you on the onions.
Had to go to Galveston for work, ship got delayed so I ran to BR for a couple days. Planted 4 rows for wife’s family to enjoy. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and cucumbers are in the ground. Might add some more peppers when I go back when this wraps up. FIL managed to chop my irrigation system into 2000 little pieces. Thankfully, it appears they all broke off at the first drippers.

I got my tomatoes and peppers planted out today. I started some watermelon, cantaloupe, and trombone squash seeds a couple of weeks ago and will likely transplant those next weekend. I direct sowed some cucumbers, squash, and zucchini today as well. Glad to have that all done.
