I've lived in my home for 7 years and have never seen a single hummingbird. I put out 2 feeders and within 3 days I saw the 1st hummingbird. 3 weeks later, I saw 5 of them fighting it out on who got to drink out the feeder this evening. This is awesome

Baw, get a few more to prepare for fall migration, and I bet you’ll get a ton of traffic. I’ve found springtime to be lighter and if you already have 5 then you are in a prime area.

Got 2 more arriving this weekend. Every single evening this week we have been seeing minimum 2 and as many as 5. I planted a butterfly garden in my old above ground 6'x15' tomato garden and those flowers are blooming good too. I've noticed the hummingbirds bounce around between the feeders and the flowers

I have 3/4 regulars now. Not sure if these are staying or passing through. Spring is generally not busy here like the Fall is. Once nesting is in full fling, I'll pull my feeders.

I took down my feeders yesterday. I didn't see a single one during the spring.

We got a feeder as a gift a couple weeks ago and put it out but haven’t had one single bird. Did we miss the migration? Lafayette area

We put our feeders out in late March and have several customers every evening. Homer / Lake Claiborne area.

Left mine out all winter had random calliopes every couple of days - they vanished in early March. Ruby throats increasing weekly.

Two feeders on the back deck, one on the front porch.

Always fun watching the tough guy hummingbird try and defend all three.

We bought this house last year. Previous owner had a container full of Lantanas right outside this giant picture window that attracted all kinds of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds!!

The lantanas died off, so I just replaced them with new lantanas, marigolds, and some lavender for visual effect and scent. Hope our hummingbird friends come back!!

Don't give up, and even if you seen none soon, put them back up in late August. Once a bird or 4 finds your feeder, you'll continue to build numbers.

its been hanging out there for a while now. i should probably go change out the juice in it. that stuff probably goes bad after a while of sitting in the sun huh?

thats another thing, does it need to be in a shaded area?

Yes, change it often. Can't say for sure about sun, but my guess would be that it would be better in shade. Mine are in full sun FWIW.

to be safe, the nectar needs to be changed every 2 -3 days...it will begin to ferment otherwise, and can be dangerous for them to drink...do not use soap and water to clean the feeder...mix a 1:5 solution of vinegar and water and soak the parts and scrub with a bottle brush...let the parts soak in the solution for a few hours, then rinse well...

here's a picture from yesterday...when you gotta go, you gotta go!

None for me but I am very late. Also, is it better to move them away from my other bird feeders?
