Just had another visitor here in BR. Hopefully we see more consistent birds now that the storm has passed

My daughter swears she just saw one at one of our feeders here in south Arkansas.

My first visitor of the year...

We had two males on our feeder yesterday but appears that they were merely passing through

Seems like activity is picking up a bit. I will fill a feeder this afternoon!

Hung a new feeder Saturday after the storm passed, saw one male ruby throat stop for a sip Sunday afternoon. Located in New Roads, LA.

might be the same situation here...the nectar levels on the feeders is noticeably lower than yesterday, but any traffic must have happened early in the day...nobody this afternoon...

They have arrived. 2 currently on both of my feeders. Appears to be 2 male rubys in Folsom.

Really dumb question but I am going to ask it. Will feeders alone attract the hummingbirds or do I need to also plant any sort of flowers?

if you never have put feeders out before it helps to have flowers they like in bloom. The feeders alone will do it though so put them out in spring and fall and you’ll get return visitors

Now if I can only attract purple martins to my vacant house I will be set!

You're ok with just feeders. Trees close by them help. The birds like sticks or bare branches to perch on.
Put out 3-5 feeders to keep them busy. Dollar Tree has feeders they love - so does our pocket book

I’e never had a feeder but my neighbor’s Vitex tree was full of them year before last. It died either from the freeze or the heat. Thinking of planting one.
