If you could provide some wind protection that would be ideal. If not I'd bring them in. They may not be ready for high winds yet.

Thanks. I have them beside my car with the neighbor's fence 7 feet away on the other side. They seem to be doing okay. I'll keep tabs on them every hour or so.

i almost put my seedlings in ground over the weekend but thankfully i didnt. i dont think they'd survive this wind yet. also dont think i have hardened them off enough yet. i did see a tip from FB that after transplanting seedlings you can cut a small branch from a tree and stick it on the south side of it so i can have some shade. as the branch leaves wither away the seedling will get more sunlight.

This is my first attempt at seedlings. It's not going well. Besides all the ones I killed, I have several, both peppers and tomatoes, that aren't dead, but aren't growing either. They are in real soil.

Use a seeding mixture to get your seeds going first, then you can re-pot them when they get bigger. When I first started out, I was using Miracle Gro potting soil and my seedlings grew painfully slow. Since I started using the soil mix for seeding, they easily germinate and I can add fertilizer when needed.

This is where they are. Started in Jiffy 7s, and now in a mixture of miracle grow soil and a little manure mix.

Well, none of my plants have snapped yet...

I'm not worried. I have reserves.

Just checked in on mine and everything is fine. And also finally got my first handful of strawberries!

Nice. I keep telling myself I'm going to make a small raised bed just for strawberries.

I had a raised bed for carrots but since I'm inept at growing them, I put in 15 strawberry plants. My niece had been asking me to plant some anyway. Between her and her brother, I'll be lucky to get to eat one.

I have a question for your fellas. I bought some pine needles to mulch my beds this year. Going to try that instead of fighting with dollar weed and whatever else usually invades them. I grow a lot of snap beans. Will they sprout through a 2-3 inch layer of pine needles, or should I wait until they are a few inches tall to mulch around them?

That's what I usually do.

Calm before the storm this holiday weekend. Some tallow trees have a date with a chainsaw in order to build a raised bed around my garden shed.

This is me reading this thread:

Work has kept me busy this week so I haven’t spent much time in the garden. But everything is looking good. Not too much progress since planting. I need to top some of my pepper plants. I may do that this afternoon.
