Purchased a sampler pack this morning.

The Garlic Store is my source for garlic. I planted it a few weeks ago.

I ordered mustard, lettuce, carrots and spinach from Eden Brothers this summer. Planted Saturday evening. Carrots not up but everything else is sprouting. Quality seeds make a huge difference it seems

What is the best option to spray on little pesky weeds that are trying to overtake my vegetable garden?

I pulled up all the dirt a few weeks back before I planted to lay fresh paper down to help prevent them. But I still can't pick them fast enough.

anyone else noticing all the yellow tickseed blooming everywhere right now? There’s a bunch of it behind my house on the ditch bank and all along 12 between Hammond and LP

I keep forgetting to collect seeds so I can sow it in with my wildflower beds, this year I’m going to do it. Beautiful flowers and a welcome late season bloom

I’ve gotten a few late bonset in my yard that’s been a nice surprise. Amazing amount of pollinators on them.

My mother used to always make a small roux and then cook them down with salt meat. Don’t put so much roux that’s it’s really thick but just enough to give it the flavor. I always throw mine in the crock pot before leaving for work. I add onions and usually either a smoked ham hock or Tasso. Delicious.

Any of y'all have experience growing sugar snap peas overwinter? They should handle light freezes ok I assume, so I'm more concerned about short days and lack of light. Other stuff I've tried over winter (carrots and brassicas) have been sloooow and never really got going until late Feb anyway.

I’ve had better luck with sugar snap peas in the spring here in southeast Ark. spinach and collard greens are the toughest plants I ever seen make it through the snow we’ve had the past two winters.

They don’t take freezes. You can harvest like crazy until then though.

garden scenes...right now we have tomatoes and eggplant from the spring still banging out fruit, okra in fruit, and the new stuff includes mustards & collards that are getting close, broccolini/brusslers/cauliflower just getting started, radishes, turnips, daikon, kale, chard getting going, and some leftover bok choy that keeps reseeding and sprouting (the bees like it)

Beautiful!

I don’t have that much going on in the garden right now. The cabbage is growing slowly, and it’s about time for me to thin the carrots. I plucked 3 butternut squash yesterday! So that’s exciting!

I left a few tomato plants be as I have been taking care of pepper plants all summer, and the tomato plants are really putting on fruit. Hope to have one more tomato/boursin pasta before the cold.

I've been picking tomatoes daily with well over a 5 gallon bucket left on the vines, many of them still green and they are loaded with blooms. With it getting in the 30s last night, I cut them all back to force them to ripen. Never attempted this, but it's supposed to work.
