Thanks. I’ll probably just replace them with something more hardy.

It's 81 degrees now. Forecast highs through Sunday are 85, 85, 81, 85, 87. Think my lettuce is toast ?

Are there any garden veggies that are known to not be liked by rabbits?

I’ve never really had a problem with them eating anything in my garden. And I’ve had quite a few nests.

Thanks-that's a handy list. I'll reserve the lower bed for those they avoid. Now if i can figure out which bird is eating my strawberries, I'll be on my way.

F***ng mockingbirds for me.

ETA: I usually grow enough to where I'm able to sacrifice some. But I always wanted to try the painted rock trick to see if it helps.

I can confirm that the rabbits in Lafourche Parish don't like peas. I planted peas, broccoli, cauliflower, and kale together. They ate everything to the ground and didn't touch the peas.

That's because your squirrels would beat their arse for trying.

Do raccoons pose a threat to the garden? We have some regulars that visit at night.

And cantaloupe!

And ever since I got a squirrelinator trap, the squirrels haven’t been much of a problem.

How do you keep the racoons off cantaloupe?

I've always heard that more just move in if they are trapped and released elsewhere. Is that true?

What's the most you've caught in one of those at a time? I have a live oak and a water oak in my backyard that drop on alternating years. There's almost always 5 or 6 squirrels and when I shoot a few they get replaced quickly.

Most I've ever had in it was 3. That was in the early trapping days. The population has been more manageable and now I usually only catch 1 at a time. And I won't even set it out until I start seeing squirrel activity around the garden.

And for the most part, ever since my neighbor has cleaned up around the pond, and since I've fenced in the yard, I don't have much of a raccoon problem anymore.

My lab has gotten whooped by (what I'm assuming) is the same raccoon 3 or 4 times now. When I let her out in the morning all hell will break look and I'll have to smack it with a shovel. The sucker has chest. He will have to die if he starts in on my garden.
