Looking good! We have squash piling up. Red potatoes have about 2-3 weeks more to go. Bean harvest will commence late this week. And I brushed all the teeth of my tomato blooms.

I maybe should have done that earlier this year to mine. Oh well.

I'm having big time blossom drop that i've never had before and i can't figure it out for the life of me. It's very frustrating. I have 2 tomatoes that set and about a hundred blossoms or so that have fallen off. Any idea Pillage? Tons of foliage and flowers but they keep falling off

It’s probably just the heat. Once temps get above 90 tomatoes struggle to set fruit. I don’t know where you live, but that’s been my problem. High humidity can cause pollination problems, and too much nitrogen can also be a factor in blossom drop. But my bet is on the heatwave we’ve been having.

Do you harvest all of your potatoes at the same time? I’m wondering if I can leave some of mine in the ground for a while & harvest as needed.

Yeah I'm glad I did some Creole tomatoes this year because most everything else is dropping flowers. I doubt I get anything from my Black Krim. The Cherokee Purples have a lot of tomatoes on them but no more new ones.

last year we dug them all up because it rained so much I didnt want them to rot in the ground. I may try and leave some in the ground and see what happens. but it will take up space for the okra and sweet potato slips I plan to put there.

Late freeze and early heat wave killed me. Had to replant after I lost a bunch of tomatoes in the post Mardi Gras freeze. All of my early girl, big beef, beef steak and Cherokee purple should be setting now. Instead, I have flowers dropping everyday. Meanwhile my sun sugar, sweet 100s and Creoles are setting fruit like it’s mid June.

Some type of leafhopper. They’re sap suckers. Neem will hopefully deter them. Pyrethrin will kill then.

Yes. It is an organic insecticide with a short residual. Best to spray early morning or evenings when pollinators are inactive.

What is pyrethrin?

ETA: One of the biggest reasons I plant lots of sunflowers nearby is because they are an excellent trap crop for sap sucking bugs. I normally see aphids, leafhoppers, and stink bugs on my sunflowers and far less on other plants in my garden. They can handle the damage a little better and I can treat them there instead of on my edible plants.

Does anyone know what this is that keeps showing up on my okra? I’ve taken them off a few times with packing tape and they show back up the next day. I keep the plant sprayed with seven dust every few days and I don’t see bugs on the plant. Are these normal? My other okra plants across the garden don’t have them.

I am pretty certain that weed is not nandina.

Those bugs are leaf hoppers.

That would be sap produced by the plant. Completely normal.

Any cons to pruning the tops of indeterminate tomato plants? I have some that are about 7 ft tall, the new flowers on the top haven't been setting fruit. I don't really feel like cutting more bamboo.

They’ll try to put out more suckers. But you may get some larger fruit. At 7 feet if they aren’t setting any more fruit I’d go ahead and top them.
