Speaking of critters,
Finally made a good groundhog out of the one in my garden.

Maybe THE LEAVES will finally return to my garden. Wouldn't wish one of those guys on anyone. Once they wake up from their slumber there's nothing but bare stalks left.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but they don't seem to be eating anything in my garden. *knock on wood*

Seems like they're just using it for shelter.

My plant ID app says it's Bidens Pilosa....

I know these apps aren't 100%, but that's certainly a weed I wouldn't want in my garden.

ETA: My iPhone apparently ID's plants as well, and it says Bidens Frondosa.

I started cleaning up my beds the am and ran out of steam. Need to finish the first one and plant more pole beans.

My flowers are going strong still and I’m deadheading routinely.

Need to pull the tomatos as well.

Me too. Anyone have an issue with cucumber beetles this year? They wore me out once it warmed up. Didn't have that issue last year at all.

I have yet to be able to order seed potatoes for fall planting regardless of the seed company.

We pick up seed potatoes at the local hardware store or the feed store. TSC has them too but they are those nationwide produced bags. The locals will have the potatoes that work well for your area.

Got the kids out in the garden this morning and pulled out the green beans. Planted okra, pumpkins, gourds, watermelon, black eyed peas, and another round of green beans. It was fine until the clouds burned off then got hot quick. Time for some Mexican food!

I can check with a couple of feed stores but I’d be stunned if they have seed potatoes. We ain’t that fancy out here. I’ll likely replant what I harvest.

Pyrethrin will kill them. But you’ll have to stay on top of them with weekly sprays (sometimes more if you have a bad infestation), because pyrethrin has a very short residual and only works on contact. Neem oil may deter them from feeding as often, but it won’t stop them. However it can help with getting rid of them over time. But you’ll need to use 100% cold pressed neem oil. Azadirachtin is a key ingredient in neem that has higher levels when using 100% cold pressed. When ingested it can interrupt growth cycles and stop them from feeding as often. For the young nymphs it may suffocate them. For sap sucking insects like stink bugs it’s recommended to use it as a root drench and foliar spray for maximum benefit. You’ll need an emulsifier when using it. I prefer liquid castile soap, but Dawn will also work. Remember to not spray it in direct sunlight cause it’ll burn your plants.

any tips on dilution? the directions have just about every bug i can think of but don't see stink bugs or shield bugs on the label.

ETA: nevermind i googled

Pulled the first cantaloupe (Aphrodite cantaloupe) this morning! Going to cut it open this evening. So I’ll have to report back on the taste. But it’s a pretty big, nice looking melon.

Its July 1. Who's still going on the Spring Garden? Still picking San Marzano and Sunburst tomatoes like crazy. Sweet Corn is getting close. I planted a second round of squash and green beans 2 weeks ago along with Okra, pumpkins, and black eyed peas. The gourd seeds I planted dont appear to be coming up though. Watermelon vines are blooming again. Its probably time to dig up the last bit of potatoes.

I have very few spring plants left. Unless you count the cantaloupe and watermelon. I still have a few tomato plants, but I'll be pulling them soon. The eggplant is done and I'll be pulling them when I get a chance. Pulled the pole beans and cucumbers already. Will be pulling the bell and marconi peppers soon. And it looks like the purple hulls are about spent.

Only thing I'll leave for now are the hot peppers, okra, watermelon, cantaloupe, and I just started some pumpkin seeds.
