about ready to give up on my seedlings...they arent putting on any new leaves after the first pair. i think my lights arent good enough.
Mine aren't either. But I also remembered that I now have a water softener/filtration system and I've been getting water out of the tap to water them. Not sure if that is good for them with the minerals/etc. stripped out.

Where’d you find the wire for your cucumbers?

Cattle panel from Lowe’s. They also have them at Tractor Supply.

TSC was a few bucks cheaper last time I priced. They also delivered to my house when I bought 50 for my fence.

I don’t remember what I paid for them, but I remember I got 2 of them from TSC originally. A few years later when I expanded the garden I bought another one from Lowe’s. They are exactly the same, so get it where it’s cheaper for sure.
ETA: And obviously they have lasted me many years. The ends that I stick in the ground are rusted, but still strong.

Catch 22 is how do you transport a 16 ft panel? I didn’t have a trailer at my camp at that time, so buying in store and negotiating free delivery was great deal.

Yeah I would imagine that would be a conundrum for some people. For me, since I was making an A-frame with them, I just folded them in half in the parking lot and stuck them in the bed of my truck. I got some interesting looks.

I pulled the two ends together to make a circle and zip tied them together. Actually fit perfectly in the bed of my truck with my bedcover up. It's not hard to bend and it's not heavy. Mine is used as an arch trellis between two beds.

eng08 what posts did you use. Looking to build this at my camp but would like the front to have nice wooden posts and toprail.

The wife wanted 6x6 everywhere, convinced her to go with 4x4 and 6x6 at corners/gates. It came out really nice around the house (it’s a camp in waveland/bay St. Louis)
I didn’t put a top rail. There were a few other houses nearby that did top rails 2x4 and they all sagged. The panel is welded wire and pretty stiff so I don’t think it’s needed.
Got the cattle fence 12 ft gates for the driveway and another like 42” similar gate for the front to the main road. All from TSC with free delivery.

That should be plenty, how close are you putting the light? I use 2 4’ shop light bases that hold 2 bulbs each and don’t have problems but I make sure the bulbs sit less than an inch above seedlings.

eng did you use tractor supply in BSL? My camp is in BSL. One bag of concrete at each post? Length of posts and how deep did you bury?
Posted on 2/23/22 at 8:54 am to nolaks
Yeah I did.
I hired it out, think they used 2 bags each post, 3 or 4 at the big gates and the panels are 50” tall, so you should buy the 8 ft posts and cut the tops off to ensure a good 2 ft in the ground.

about 6 inches. I'll lower them tonight and see if that helps.

Anyone have any ideas on the current turnaround time for soil samples at the LSU AG center right now?
Just finished filling my first 5 grow bags with a mix of the Cleggs Raised bed mix, peat moss, and perlite. I was hoping to send it off and get a benchmark before adding any additional amendments.

? for the potato planters, last year I cut a few potatoes and let them sit out overnight to “heal over”. The next day the exposed areas were jet black. Were they still okay to plant? I thought they'd look more like the pic below. Ended up not planting them b/c they looked so bad. Do any of y’all even bother with that or just plant immediately after cutting the eyes?

Planted mine today. I cut as I plant and never had a problem.

My strained relationship with Brad’s Atomic Grape continues. Both of my seedlings got to about 7” then damped off. Gotta be a bad batch of seeds.
