2020 Toro Timecutter MyRIDE 54" 75754

Have been shopping for a zero turn and have bounced all around on what I want. Right now I'm thinking it'll be this Toro. I live on less than an acre and plan on staying there another 5 years before possibly moving to a little bigger yard. The reviews on the MyRIDE seem to be great.
I want something that will last me but don't want to spend commercial money if I don't need it. I take care of my stuff. Will be serviced, cleaned after usage, and garage kept.
Engine
24.5 hp** Toro Commercial V-Twin 708cc
Fuel Capacity 3 gallons /11.4 L
Cutting Width 54" / 137 cm
Deck Design 54" IronForged™ Fabricated Deck
Engine Displacement 708cc
Foot Operated Height of Cut Standard
Ground Speed MOW: 7 mph/3 mph (11.3 km/h / 4.8 km/h) TRIM: 5.5 mph/2.4 mph (8.8 km/h / 3.8 km/h) TOW: 4 mph/1.7 mph (6.4 km/h / 2.7 km/h)Height of Cut
1.5" / 3.8 cm - 4.5" / 11.4 cm
Hour Meter Optional
Seat 18" (45.7 cm) Handcrafted High Back with Arm Rests - Lever Slide
Steering Controls Dual Wrap Around Levers
Tires 11" x 5.5" (27.9 cm x 14 cm) Front, 20" x 10" (50.8 cm x 25.4 cm) Rear
Transmission Dual Hydrostatic HG-ZT2200
Warranty 3-year / unlimited hour residential warranty
3-year / 300-hour commercial engine warranty***
I think it'll cost me $3,899. I am looking to spend between $3-5K before taxes. I am not afraid to go to the top of my range if recommended but don't want to spend that much if this one will be a good choice.

Well since you do your own maintenance there is one thing you have to ask yourself: How hard will it be to get parts for this mower now and 10 years or more from purchase time?
Posted on 3/7/20 at 4:11 pm to Daygo85
I mean I could be wrong but I don't think it'll be that hard. I live by multiple Toro dealers. I would think ordering parts through them or even online would be easy. These mowers are good sellers so they should make parts for them for a long time.

It what it is a residential zero turn.
It not the best one but not the worst one out there.
The my ride is a gimmicky some people like it while others I sold it to hate it depends on the person.
The prior years motors have been hit or miss with 20% having major issues in the first year which warranty covers it.
For $3k ballpark it is not bad and you don’t have a lot to cut.

Why do you need a 54” deck for under an acre? Gonna take you like 15 minutes to cut.

Don't NEED a 54" lol. I was looking at the 50" version(don't NEED either) but it's only $200 cheaper than the 54" and has smaller tires. I've used my brothers 52" at my house and it wasn't crazy overkill. I have a ton of trees so it'll still take me longer than 15 minutes. It just seems like when you go smaller than about 48" they start getting fewer options and start being cheaper made from the ones I've looked at. This Toro looks very well built in person and every single review I can find on it says it's one of the best, if not the best, in it's class/price range.

Hey man I’m a tool man, I love tools and equipment. I just wanted to make sure you knew that was a big machine for 1 acre lot with a house on it.

I am too. It's weird that I'm this excited about buying a lawn mower. Must be getting old. I know it's overkill considering last summer I used a push mower lol. Would just rather over buy than be disappointed that I got something too small. Especially if we decide to move in the next few years to bigger property. Had I not already used a 52" on it and realized that it's not way too large I'd probably be looking at something smaller.

Man I have a gravely 52 zt hd for 3/4 of an acre. It’s definitely overkill for my yard but I love to mow with it and my grass looks better for it. I occasionally cut some grass for some family on several acres so I stretch it’s legs occasionally but I have no regrets.

Take a look at Big Dog. It has I think a 7 year warranty. No frills, easy to work on.

I have been looking also and for that price you can get a Hustler. Which seems to be a better built product than a Toro.

What about it seems better built? Looked at the new Toro in person and I was surprised by the quality. All the reviews rave about it and a lot of things I've read call it the best buy in that price range.

The guy above in the power equipment business says the Toro engines have high failure rate. Buy a mower with a Kawasaki or Kohler engine. I suspect the engine in the Toro is made for/by MTD with the Toro name on it.

What zero turn would you recommend up to $4k?

Gravely ZT HD 52 vs Toro Titan 54?
It's looking like I'll be mowing more than just my acre so if I decide to go to the top of my range, which of these would you prefer? I'm going to look at the Gravely but have already looked at the Toro and the 2020 seems to be very well built.

If you could get the toro with a Kawasaki for less than $500 more than the gravely with a Kawasaki it seems like it may be worth it. I wouldn’t want the toro branded engine.

This makes no sense, so you want to make more passes? I have one acre, and have a 52" hustler, its perfect. Wider wheels, less rutting, more stability with deeper ditches better resale if you ever need to. No brainer.
OP, go with the 54" all day long...I can't comment on the TORO, but somebody made a good point about parts. My neighbor bough a Yazoo before they went belly up, cannot find parts, seems to me TORO will be around a while...
