Honest Question for Mods: Why has OT become so political?

I understand people want to talk about Trayvon, crime, local gov, race and all those topics. Isn't that what the Poli board is for? Over the last 6-9 months it seems the OT has been flooded with these threads.
And I understand, if I don't like it then don't click on it. But, I can't even browse the board with out reading 3-4 such threads on each page it seems. Why can't we keep it in Political Talk?

A board becomes more it's own community than a place people go to discuss certain topics. I know that's not the intent, but it's natural.

Hell, for that matter, at the current time there are GZ threads on the front page of the MSB and MTV board. It's out of control.
