Your vision and your why will dictate how successful you are with health and fitness

if working out and being healthy isn't part of your vision for who you want to be, then don't fricking do it. you'll just be fighting against who you want to be and all the personal trainers in the world won't be able to help you.
which is a big reason why I'm not a personal trainer, even though I'm certified. I'm not gonna twist someones arm to get them in the gym, don't give a frick if you're healthy or not. I'm in the gym for me. if health and fitness is part of the vision for who you want to be, you'll have the drive and discipline without a personal trainer.
personal trainer = glorified cheerleader
if your why is a superficial thing like a 6 pack or getting a boyfriend/girlfriend then you'll end up like the countless other people who stop working out/being healthy after they achieve their why. let your why be something deep like inspiring others and the sky's the limit, you'll never fall off the bandwagon and the drive to go to the gym/be healthy will always be there. that's why myself and others that are always in the gym and staying healthy don't need a personal trainer, we have clear vision and a deeper reason for why we're doing what we're doing.

Came here thinking this was about my eyesight getting better with exercise. Left with my trainer and my readers.

I exercise because I feel better after I do it. It’s purely for my sanity. I’d be way too angry without that outlet.

I've been trying to get that six pack for 40 years.I'm on my 5th one tonight.

I would say at least 60% of my reason for working out is looking good/vanity. I’ve been going at this strong for over 4 years. Other part of my reasoning is I’ve become borderline obsessed with pushing my body to its limits. I find that fun.
Just because you workout for the pure abstract of “health” doesn’t mean other people have to.

Yeah I’m with you. Probably 70% of the reason I workout is because I love seeing my body change week to week. The other 30% is for health reasons, let out stress, and because I can eat out every now and then and not feel like a fat arse

Probably the worst post I've ever read on this site. And that means a lot coming from me.

Being active is better than being non active.
I am 50 in a month and can do damn near anything I want physically and am stronger with more endurance than most any younger person
I plan on being physically capable until my health no longer allows it.
I see no reason to think my 70s will be sitting around
