I'm going in this month for my yearly checkup. Other than the normal blood panels, what else do some of you get tested?

But seriously, I'm a little younger and all I asked for extra was Vit D and Covid antibodies. I take a Vit D every day and was just curious how high that number was. And I wanted my Pureblood report card.

Is it time for a colonoscopy yet? They have that new at home test they do where you don't have to go in for the full scope.

Around 40 or mid 40's my dr. sent me to a cardiologist for a stress test since I had never had one done before, just to get a baseline and make sure the ol' ticker was still in working order.

I was going to get testosterone checked, didn't think about vitamin D, will check that out.

I think I got covid this past Christmas Eve, but didn't get tested. I got "vaccinated" last March/April, so I'll see what they can check from that, just out of curiosity.

I think you start getting checked for arse cancer at 50 unless you have a family history of it. I still have about 6-7 yrs left before that.

Are there any other male centric tests that would be good indicators of health?

This. Vitamin D is key to respiratory defense.

I think they fairly recently moved the recommended age up to 45 on the colonoscopy.

Just went to a GI and he suggested I get one (44 in July). Said I need to get one at 45 anyway so it just moves my window to the left a little bit. He said I'd be good for another 10 or 15 years. I'll be getting scoped here in a couple weeks.

Not sure if your office will have it, but I’m scheduled to get a DEXA scan, RMR test, and VO2 test with my physical. Well, I’m going to a separate facility, but I’m considering it all part of my annual “physical.”

$200 total. In the future I’ll probably drop the VO2 test.

LDL-P vs standard BS cholesterol test

If they’ll do it, a micronutrient test. I did one a few years ago and never would have known otherwise (copper, biotin low)

Just remember, a blood test is a snapshot in time and you can’t just make huge conclusions without repeats.

Ask for an apolipoprotein B (apo B). The most important of the tests relative to your lipid status. Make sure you ask for that and hopefully you have a PCP that understands how to interpret.

I would also ask for a hemoglobin A1C in there as well. Random glucose as part of the CMP is not gonna tell you much. Insulin resistance is very common with the standard American diet. It is not a perfect test, but can clue you in if you have problem developing

34 here. I just do the typical wellness. Couple vials. I never really feel bad, so I don't do bigger panels just to do it.

I did do the big panel a couple years ago. Checked everything. 6 vials. I damn near passed out. I'm a big puss when it comes to that.
