Whats the H/F board’s thoughts on kettlebells?

Trying to expand my home gym a little. I have dumbbells from 15-75 and can get pretty creative with them but have been thinking of adding a few kettle bells in the mix. I know they’re really popular at CF gyms but I have very little experience with them. How do y’all feel about them as opposed to dumbbells?

I think it all depends on how you’d intend on using them.
I have a variety of kettlebells and work out in my backyard, they are the only equipment I use. But for my workouts, 90% of the time I’m using them the same way I’d use a dumbbell, so if I had dumbbells instead I wouldn’t have invested in any kettlebells.
Basically if you are interested in doing KB swings and that style of workout that you wouldn’t use a dumbbell for, maybe get one in the 40-50 lb range to play around with to see if you like it. Then you can always get more.

Personally I like them alot. They add lots of variety. I use then in place of dumbbells to add variety.

Agreed. May pick up a couple more from Sorinex this weekend.

Don’t approach them like a bodybuilder or power lifter. Progression is a different mindset altogether, not totally unlike calisthenics.

Appreciate the responses fellas. May start with some 35s or 40s and get a feel for em.

I’m about to buy at least a 35 so I can wake up and do goblet squats each morning. It’ll be mainly a morning mobility routine.

You can do a lot with kettlebells. Very versatile implements.
