So, today I was doing squats by myself in a squat rack. Got through my second set when someone else walks up. Here's what followed.
First, he asked to workout in between my sets. I said no, and that I would prefer to finish my last few sets then he could take over. He told me I should just let him workout in between sets again. This is where I got annoyed.
At this point he's just standing next to the rack watching me intently like he wanted to say shite. I got through with my next set, and told him I'd be right back. Went to the front desk and told an employee about what was happening, and to come follow me to confront the guy. The employee agreed, and followed to mediate.
The guy who was bothering me got defensive immediately. Started raising his voice at me and the employee, an even started beating his chest repeating, "This is me!". I couldn't get word in either way cause he was acting so childish and unreasonable.
The employee tried to reason with us, and even heard both sides, but just ended up saying that I and the other guy need to work this out amongst ourselves. But, as I mentioned before, this dude was not rational. He decided he should be able to do whatever he wants. To be clear, the other two squat racks were taken, but the assisted racks were all available.
I've since looked up the LA Fitness Conduct Code and think I have a legit complaint for both the rude guy and the way the employee decided to resolve the issue. What do y'all say?

Agreed nothing like a set of 50 power cleans at a CrossFit box can't fix.

You went to the front desk to whine to an employee?

Do you need a safe place to workout?

Just ignore the guy, finish your sets, and leave.

***Update***

Ended up speaking to the same employee from before, who's actually one of the head managers of the gym, while on my way out. Basically, he told me they've had multiple issues with that guest before, and in fact, he might be a little crazy because he's acted out like that when previously confronted. Told me they'd have a talk with him when he leaves as well since they don't want the other guests to be bothered by that type of behavior in the future. I guess my complaint has been resolved, but holy frick you never know how many people there are walking around out there completely bat shite crazy and delusional.

Should have let him work in. How long are your rests?

There's room for both unless he's lifting significantly different weights.

Yeah, man I do think a safe space would have been very helpful since I didn't want to get into a physical altercation with a stranger at the gym over a squat rack. I went to the front desk to get an employee to resolve the matter after several minutes of dialogue with the guy without reaching an agreement. And by the way, when I ignored him and started doing a set as he's standing in between two racks being occupied just staring directly at me, that's where I draw the line. The dude seemed off his rocker. Think you're underestimating the situation when dealing with irrational people.

P.S. How many fist fights do you get into at the gym?

Why wouldn't you let him work in? It can't be that big of a difference in weight. If it was deadlift, I'd tell them no though as it's harder to load.

speaking of fist fights at gyms

yesterday, my CF coach almost got into a fight with some chicks boyfriend because he made her get off the racks

the classes have preference when it comes to equipment, and yesterday being a very busy class, the class took the all the racks, so he made about 3 people leave to go workout in another area

well about 10 minutes later this chicks boyfriend comes flying in and gets in his face and accuses him of being racist and shoves him a few times before some of us had to break them up

some people are just fricking insane

Personally, I think you handled the situation like a bitch but this country is so pussified it doesn’t surprise me you went to someone else and looked up a conduct code (lol). Either let the dude work in with you or finish your set and come back to it when he’s done and this would’ve all been avoided.

Man I would be pissed getting kicked off the rack in the middle of squats. I'm already mad that I'm doing them

Why should I have to let him work in between? There was only about 10-15 people in that section with over 50 machines, benches, etc. and when I went over to the squat racks at first they were all occupied. So I decided to stretch and do some GHR and wait till one of the racks opened up. During that whole time, and even after I got to a rack, the assisted squat racks were all available. The gym was not busy at all. I just didn't want to share the rack because a) I like working out alone (which I said to him after he persisted that I let him use the rack b) I waited for the previous person using said rack to finish, and c) he just walked up and assumed I had to share it with him, then got butthurt after I told him no and explained I would be done soon.

About 60-90 seconds in between sets, and it was with low weight. Nothing crazy about wanting to do 4 uninterrupted sets imo.

No.

99% of the time there is plenty of room. Just yesterday with all the new people, the racks were full.

This is the first time I've ever seen them make someone move.

But gym rules are posted everywhere that classes have preference when it isn't "open gym"
