So I have been on Keto and intermittent fasting since March.

I have gone from 255 down to 212-214

I’m kind of been stuck here for the last month. I kind of relax in the weekends and eat some bites of my kids food so I think that’s part of the issue.

Anyway my thoughts when I started was ti get down to about 195-200 because when I get off of Keto I’ll probably gain a little water weight back. My goal is to be 210-215 at the end of the day but switching from a keto diet to hi protein low carb diet hoping to gain back some of the muscle ive lost

First of all congrats! That's some awesome progress. I'm not the expert here, I'm just another fat kid with daily struggles myself.

IMO the body adapts, no matter what you give it after a while it adapts and finds its happy medium. I would think giving it a change may do some good. Maybe carb cycling or a different fasting schedule like 5:2 or something. Or maybe just stop fasting and KETO for a week or two and then jump back on it.

Exercise wise change it up also. If you are doing lots of high intensity maybe dial that back some and replace it with some lower intensity. Daily walks/steps. Incline treadmill. Maybe if you are doing light to medium weights go heavy for a bit. Again, other people here know better than me, just my two cents from what I've seen with my body personally. My metabolism is always looking for a reason to slow down. If I hold back on the calories too much for too long it comes to a crawl.

Stop starving yourself king

Why would you ignore what’s right for your body by losing weight? Be body positive and accept the size your genetics have determined for you

If you plan on stopping your keto diet at some point I suggest you do it now. You should lose weight as long as you are in a caloric deficit. And it might help you break through the plateau.

I was really hoping to get down to 200 to cut the keto off but I’ve done it longer than I thought I would have to.

I may try just a clean diet eating every few hrs I really don’t want to get smaller but maybe if I switch it up it’ll keep me from ballooning.

Man, if you’ve been hoping to get off keto at some point just do it. But do it slowly. If you don’t enjoy eating that way stop. It’s not a magic bullet. Intermittent fasting, keto, carnivore, all Twinkies are based on thermodynamics.

They sell keto as a way to “Eat whatever you want (as long as it’s not carbohydrates) and you’ll lose weight!” Well of course you will. You’re cutting out a macronutrient that makes up the majority of the American diet.

What does it really do? It limits your food options so even though you can eat “all the bacon and cheese you want!” you are eating less kcals. Same with the “diets” I mentioned above.

And eating small meals throughout the day does not “stoke your metabolism” anymore than eating one meal a day. It is calories in and calories out.

Eating a diet of Twinkies alone can result in weight loss. But it will play havoc on your insulin resistance.

My very long winded point is if eating keto is a chore for you it’s not sustainable. Log your calories per day on keto. Everything you eat. Then keep your calories at that same level for a week. You will definitely gain some weight the first week. But do it for a month. You are already mindful of what you eat. But track it.

I was in a similar situation. Was 200 but trying to get down to 175 or so but firm. I was up to 260 in college but all fat. I hovered around 210-190 but given height 5’11” and build I had a belly. So I joined Calibrate and it’s helped so much. I got on Metformin and Weygovi and with regular exercise I’ve been able to drop 24 pounds to 178 in 5 months and still feel really good. Metformin helps with appetite suppression and weygovy with blood sugar. It’s about $1000 to join for the year but the meds are covered by insurance and if you have good healthcare I bet your insurance will write you a check for 200-300$ for a weight loss program. Happy to talk more about it if interested but I’ve been super happy.

Why would he pay $1,000? If he needs those meds his primary care physician will prescribe them. Metformin does more for blood glucose and semaglutide suppresses appetite. Tirzepitide has shown to be much more effective for weight loss. But there is no indication that he needs drugs.

That's quite a bit of weight lost. What I notice with Keto is it's a quick drop of weight followed by much slower loss. Between that are times when the weight stays the same or goes up a little. But then you'll have a good week of 1-2lbs loss. I equate it more like a plane coming in for a landing how it will go down then stabilize, then down a little more, etc.

I've also had times after a few months that I needed to come out of ketosis to reset my body. I didn't go nuts with a dozen donuts or anything, but usually just 2 combo meals with bun and fries will do it. Then I'll have a very high fat no carb after a 16 hr fast (and usually horrific BM) to get back to keto. I'd probably do a reset and then go back to strict logging and keto with exercise to see if you've been taking too many bites of kid's food on the side.

Do you drink? That's one thing that always keeps me from hitting and staying at my goal.

Even though straight liquor or even using a no-carb mixer is technically keto, your body is still burning that alcohol.

Try tracking calories. Whatever you’re eating now, eat less

I never quit drinking. only a few fri/sat

That’s probably part of it I think I need to relax off of it for a bit.

I’m tracking calories trying to keep under 2200 right now. See if I maintain or lose

I know I can drop it to 1800 cal and lose weight I just do not want to cut that drastic

I’m honestly at my goal weight if I can maintain within 5-10lb with a healthy diet and get some of my muscle and energy back up I’ll be happy.

It’s a weird feeling working out on keto and my strength is slowly waining away not that I care that much anymore

It’s minute in the grand scheme of things

I used to bench 315 for 4 or 5

Then it was 275 for 8 or 9

Now it’s 4 or 5

it doesn’t bother me I know it’s because of the diet and now that I’m older I don’t really care if I can bench 350#

My shoulder hurts now lol
